Watery eyes

hi everyone!
My CC Diesel is now 9 months old and is doing super awesome! I always love reading this forum because it had helped my family with so many situations when it has come to training and dealing with certain things - so I’m back with another question!
We’ve noticed this past week that his left eye is always VERY watery and guck is starting to form on the lashes and in the corner of his eye. I wipe it all the time and have looked at his eye as he doesn’t seem to have anything in it. Any insight would help. Maybe allergies? I’m not sure if that’s a thing for dogs or not.
Thank you in advance!

Dogs can definitely have allergies, but I'd think it would present in both eyes rather than just one. My suggestion is to get him to the vet. Eyes are nothing to mess around with. Many eye injuries can't really be seen with the naked eye and they'll need to stain it and take a look. Dogs get eye injuries and infections just like people. Best to have it looked at as soon as possible, in my opinion.

When Max had his Cherry Eye surgery they also put a stitch in both lower lids to reduce the droop. It was excessive and collecting all the earth. His eyes did exactly what you are talkin about. I took him back to the Vet. and the swelling in the eye where the stitch was located was causing his eyes to run and form huge gunk. She approved a eye drop that I use for allergies. Its called OPCON A. His eyes are doing real good now. If you are not able to get to the Vet right away you might ask them about this. It is over the counter. I actually use this in all my dogs eyes when I see them red and aggitated. I live in Austin, TX and everyone (including animals) have allergies here.

I would add it could be an inward growing eyelash , or entropian ………. blocked or narrow tear duct is another possible cause ………. a little old , but teething is also a cause ………….

Lettie had an eye problem just like this once. It started as her left eye just being extra watery and after she slept there would be crusty stuff around it. We let it go for a few days to see if it would clear up on its own, then her right eye started doing the same thing. We took her to the vet and they looked at it and said they couldn’t see any scratches or debris. So they sent us home with an eye ointment. We put the ointment in her eyes twice a day for 2 weeks I think. That cleared it up and we haven’t had problems since :).

She HATED the ointment and would squirm around, I was afraid I was going to poke her eyeball with the tip of the applicator. So I washed my hands really well and put some ointment on my finger, pulled her eyelid down and wiped it on her lower lid.

This is the ointment they gave us:
