Two questions. 1 food aggression and 1 raw diet portion

I am trying to make the puppy love his crate. Even feeding him inside he is still reluctant to be there. Patience is virtue with raising puppy.

Took the pup to petsmart and to shops today after the 3rd vaccination. Puppy cried and vomited twice. Potential car sick dog? Bones came out twice. Wife is now worried that dog should not be allowed to eat raw food. She went internet crazy =) and found many articles against eating bones that obviously came with the raw food. Please find the attached photo if we are doing good.

Also, we noticed that small bones came out from the poop.

That is ok for the pup to poop out bones. He's going to be ok. Tell the wife she can relax.

Try to give him more meat with his bone to help with pooping out the bones. Remember, raw diet is 80% meat, 10% raw meaty bone and 10% organ meat.

He could have car sickness. Here's a great article I found to help with car sickness.

Dog Car Sickness and Motion Sickness: Causes and Treatment

I can't see the pic, can you repost?

Did you photoshop the pics? I can see one piece of bone. I wouldn't worry too much about the bone, increase his meat to help with the bones in the poop.

I edited the photo and blocked off the disgusting part from the vomit. Anyway, the progress of the puppy with food aggression is clear. However, as we were hand feeding him to counter that behaviour. The puppy would not eat with us giving him the food even the food is just right under his nose. "I wonder if this can be considered as good training" =P . We tried giving him the okay cue to eat but he would just lay there.

Also, he is still not eating 10% off his current weight. He eats about 5% now and left the food. Never once finishing his food. Something to worry?

Continue doing what you are doing with the feeding. Teaching him to eat requires consistency and patience, as with all training.

What kind of meat are you feeding him? Are you chopping it up?

He's been on raw diet for about 3 weeks, add another type of meat to the diet in small amounts, i.e. pork, beef, fish.

Have you started adding organ meat to his diet, i.e. kidney or liver? Remember, slow and steady on the organ meat because too much at one time can cause diarrhea.

The raw diet is 2-3% of expected weight. If his expected weight is 100 lbs, feed him 2-3 lbs of food per day and adjust according to body weight. Of the 2-3 lbs of meat, 80% is meat, 10% is meaty bone and 10% is organ meat.

His required food intake is 3.6lbs/ day.

Feeding him chicken thigh 15% bone. Small pieces of chicken liver/gizzard. Started feeding him turkey now alternatively.

He is eating half the amount of that.

Ok, do not be concerned with his food intake because he is so young. He will get the hang of it. Chicken gizzards are considered meat not organs. I would increase his meat and leave his meaty bone at one chicken thigh.

I'm not sure you want to give this a try but when Titan started to refuse his raw meat, I would sear the meat for about 5-10 seconds just to get the juices going in the meat. He would gobble it once I did that. Avoid heating the boney meat because cooked bones are not good for the pup.

Ok, I will try this. Does Titan eats raw meat without you searing it now? We try not to repeat too much of the hand feeding situation to solve eating raw.

Please find attached photo as per his noon meal. There is a left over back from his morning breakfast. It weighs 1.1 lbs. Chicken thigh, turkey leftover back, turkey breast and gizzard. I will feed him liver in the evening.

By the way, he is not eating this meal even I put it in front of him. He just lay.

Are pup seems to like chunks more than mince , maybe your pup would eat the mince better for a while

Also the amounts are only a guide like humans each dog can be different , I know of people with two dogs of the same breed and aprox same weight but one needs a lot more than the other to maintain weight

Yes, I still sear his meat so he will eat it. I created a food monster but I'm ok with it.

Is he drinking water and going potty normally? He is playing and walking normally? If he doing those things normally, then he is holding out. Holding out meaning, he will eat it when he's ready. Do not stress if he doesn't eat all of the food. He's young and he's still new to your home.

Just keep on keeping on... He will eat.

Yes, the potty and water consumption is normal. Walking and playing require motivation and flirt pole. The stools are sometimes slightly loose and hard depending on how much bones. Overall, he is fine in that. Just not eating, growling, crying and whining a lot when not being allowed to do certain things and being corrected.

He sounds like a normal puppy with normal puppy behavior. Time is key, as well as consistency and LOTS of patience with training.

Hi Musicdeb, thank you. We understood that he has low prey drive.

We will keep you posted.

Thank you!
