  • Description:
  • I have a 2 year old pure breed cane corso (Italian Mastiff) that we can no longer keep. She has some behaviors that we can no longer fix. She bit a girl(friend of my daughters) in the rear, she didnt break skin but it could have been much worse. We have 5 kids who have friends that come over alot and eitheir I will have to keep her locked up or my kids wouldnt be able to have friends over, neitheir option is fair. Any home that she goes to needs to have someone who is expeirenced with the breed and big dogs, with no young kids or cats. She is good with other larger dogs. If you feel you have the time to train her aggresive behavior and meet my other requirements please email me. She is up to date on shots and not altered. There is a rehoming fee of $300.00. Non negotiable

Well hopefully she has pretty high standards and won't just sell it off to the first caller. It is a really sad story that makes me want to throw a brick at her face for not doing her research before getting the breed, but hopefully this beautiful dog will find a better and more experienced home.

Somehow I doubt her standards are "high" except for money. If she had high standards, she might have done some research regarding buying that breed with 5 kids in the house, etc.,...If her standards were "high" she would be looking for a good home for the dog and not stating that her price was "non-negotiable"...she would only care about finding the right home for the dog. My opinion :)

Laura, do you have a huge pile of bricks that you keep as ammo? Who needs a gun when you got a brick launcher!

This ad pisses me off. All the "behaviors" I'm sure the dog has could be fixed if they tried. Sounds like they just aren't willing to try. Maybe they should've gotten a lab.

Agree with you raech...and I would go so far as to say "maybe they should have no dog at all" IMO

Yes I thought about that as well. I hate when people get dogs with hard temperaments bc I believe its more of a status symbol for that person, "oh I have a corso, presa, fila, whatever" but then when they grow up & are a lot harder to deal with then they don't want it anymore.

A girl can hope, right? I agree with everything you guys are saying though, it is such a shame. Just as much as doing a generic "Cane Corso" search on google would have made her more prepared and educated. I am 99% sure she doesn't even pronounce the name right. Not that it really matters now I guess, but still she should have done her research and then she wouldn't be in this situation. Sounds like the only dog she should ever have is one of those FurReal Dogs you can buy at the toy store. Even then, you still have to change the batteries, so even that's kind of a tossup.

And Raech, they are mostly hypothetical bricks. I have zero upper body strength so I doubt I would be able to literally hurl bricks at people. I do make a mental note of them though and when I see them in person I burn their faces into my memory and they go on my list of "people not to help in a zombie apocalypse". In addition to that I give them the stare of death while I imagine hurling giant bricks right at their faces.

I mispronounced cane corso for the longest time. Mainly bc I had only seen 1 in my entire life. I now have to say it at least 5 times in my head before I actually say it out loud. Hahaha

Yeah, I like to be judgmental on this one, but I only learned how to pronounce it correctly after joining this forum. Honestly they were a breed I hadn't ever heard of until about 8 months ago. I saw a thread venting about how people pronounce it "Kane" corso and I was like "what, whaaa" so I googled it. Even then it was kind of difficult to figure out, I had to go to many sites to get a general consensus because there are a few variations. From what I gathered though, it is more like Kah-nay. Please lord tell me I'm right or I'm going to feel pretty stupid.

I also googled it but it didn't really click until I heard them announce it on the dog show & I was like OH! Yeah.

LMAO,don't feel stupid and yes you are right. To be honest it only bothers me when one is breeding or owns a Corso when they call it a Kane. I do not expect the average person to know the name. Cane = dog in Italian :) That is the direct translation and the reason it is pronounced how it is. It is how they say it :) As for the ad :(, unfortunately it happens ALL the time and as the breed gets more popular it is just going to get worse. Everyone who buys a Corso now days is a breeder. They make their kennel name while their dogs are pups and are insta experts. The breed is in rapid decline and soon will take the place of the pit bull on the BSL list. It is really only a matter of time.

Cody...I worry about this a lot; I live in Baltimore and this town is almost split down the middle when it comes to breed banning...especially the pit bull right now...There was even a ballot measure regarding it during our last voting process. Luckily it did not pass. Bella hates the 2 men that live next door...if she is outside when they come out she will not stop growling and barking at them (my previous boxer did the same....they are abusers and dope dealers...and this is a good neighborhood)...anyway, the wrought iron fence that separates our two porches is almost even to Bella's height at this time, and my biggest fear is that one day she will go over that fence and bite one of them. My kids think I'm crazy, but I won't let Bella out in the front yard (it's fenced) unless I am with her, (cause on 2 separate occasions my neighbors told me how they yelled at her and threatened to hit her...and I had only run into the house to use the potty) my biggest fear is that she might bite one of them and get a "bite" record. She reacts to no one else like she does these 2 men. I hate the breed bashing that goes on in this city, and don't want her to become a part of it.

i live in pennsylvania, but i did see that post on craigslist. i just pulled an adult male CC out of the BARCS shelter in baltimore on friday... i hear the backyard breeding down there of boerboels, presas and CCs is wild. so sad for the dogs.

The whole rescue situation in Baltimore is a nightmare; especially for pits, large, and giant breed dogs. The backyard breeding is even more of a nightmare. It breaks my heart :(

honestly, i wanted to vomit or punch folks while i was standing in the lobby waiting for the dogs (i was down there twice last week to do rescue pulls). the people dropping dogs off, arguing with the staff to reclaim their dogs that they irresponsibly lost, and even some of the clients wanting to adopt were.... well... frustrating to be near. im generally a people person, too!!! but wow. i will say though for BARCS, they are dedicated to helping as many animals as they can despite being a kill shelter. and the employees i dealt with are top notch folks... they are doing the best they can with the hideous hand theyve been dealt!!

Another sad story of a dog that didn't ask or deserve what they are now getting in life. Sad... F.I. of a woman!
