  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

That's a lot of dog.

Kryten needed a bath tonight, the first since before Christmas sometime. I didn't have my camera in the bathroom with me but he now takes up over 3/4 of the length of the tub, almost the entire width and his elbows are now just below the top edge. The amount of shampoo he needed was unbelievable. Right now I can't even imaging giving him a bath when he reaches his adult size.
Here's a picture from earlier as a reward for reading.

That was pre-bath. To be honest it was Jiggers that REALLY needed a bath but Kryten had gotten dirty as well.

I bathed Duchess a couple weeks ago I confirmed how much she really loves dirt bc the water was black. I had to shampoo her twice bc she was so dirty. I can only imagine how much shampoo you used on Kryten!

Cruiser has outgrown our bathrooms! We now take him to our local pet resort for a spa bath. It's a pretty neat deal, the have a stand up tub for giants that he walks into, they close the door and put his chin on a rest, fill it up and turn the jets on. The boy loves it! He closes his eyes and makes a weird mmmmmmmmmmm noise, once they turn off the jets and drain to ready for rinsing he chews them out! I think he'd stay in there forever! I think we are pretty lucky to have this place, the owner of the resort has English and Neo Mastiffs and caters to big breeds.

Robtouw thats awesome. Apollo's not much short of being to big for our tub, but the tubs at the local "do your own dog wash" place aren't much bigger....

Thankkfully, I have a huge walk in shower that Ruger should fit in without issue when grown and I am looking at plans for the new house to be sure the same type is added there. LOL I know what you mean, though. It sure is a lot of dog and A LOT of work bathing these guys. Ruger loves so that isn't an issue but it just seems to take forever because there is so much dog to wash and Yeah, you have you have to use some serious shampoo. I bathe Ruger at least once a week.

I wish we had that here, that is what I did when Thor was a puppy at 130s lol. Luckily though at 200lbs he fit my "standard" tub.

Stone is small so I don't have to worry about that issues. Though he's a PITA in the for the walkin shower......

Both mine get baths in the tub and fill the entire tub up. I just take everything out of the spare bathroom that shouldn't get wet/slingered. I have also found to let the dog shake once before it gets out of the tub (after you toweled it off some). When it starts to shake pull the curtain closed really quick so most of it is contained in the shower.

An idea for the amount of shampoo it takes for these guys- You can dilute the shampoo in some type of container with a lid. I usually add about 1 part shampoo to 10-15 parts warm water and stir it or shake it in. It's much easier to pour over him and get spread out that way :)

An empty water bottle with squirty lid is perfect, thats what my groomer uses. not the twist cap type but the kind you where you squeeze the bottle and the water comes out in a stream.

That's how we bathe Gunny. He LOVES getting in the shower with his papa and will cry the whole time I'm in there if he knows I'm taking one without him. Lol It's so much easier to use the shower head to rinse him off and I don't have to worry about any residual shampoo remaining on him.

I bathe Titan on the apartment patio. I hook up the hose to the kitchen sink and off we go. The neighbors can hear us because Titan doesn't like to sprayed with the hose. They hear me saying about 30 times, come here, stay, sit and other words too bad to post here.

Seeing a picture here, and I can't stop laughing at what you posted. I use to have a rotti that absolutely hated baths. He would swim forever in a lake, pond, pool, etc....but say the word bath around him and he would run!! I remember one time when my son got in trouble (he was in his teens...6 foot 2 inches...so no baby here)...anyway, he got in trouble and I told him he obviously had too much free time on his hands and to go out and give Oso (bear in spanish) a bath....Well, lol first he had to catch him...he finally did and tied him to the tree (we lived in Florida at the time so it was hot outside and the cold water that comes out of the plumbing in Florida is only tepid)...anyway, next thing I knew my son was yelling his head off in panic...I ran out to see what the problem was....Oso had obviously decided that Nick was no longer ahead of him in the pack and was growling at him...basically saying "no bath today!!". lol...I had to hide my laughter from both my son and dog (cause I knew there was no way Oso would have bit my son...he was just seeing if he could intimidate him and get out of the bath) but, alas, I also knew I couldn't allow Oso his moment of "victory", so I got roped into helping with the bath, and letting both of them know who was the boss!! But I did lose count of how many times I use to say to that dog...come here, stay, sit, etc. during bath time!! :)

Yes, I couldn't imagine trying to rinse him any other way. It takes forever to get it done already.

You're supposed to give dogs a bath? :p

I only wash my dog outside. He doesn't fit in my tub and leaves too much fur anyway. He chases the hose and eventually gets clean. If it's winter, I have managed to squeeze him in my tub, but I've only done that twice and he's 6!
