oh I so get that... Bella hasn't hurt herself on her tail as of yet... Our cousin's BM has a zig zag tail ... poor baby. His sister lost her tail to cancer. So we all keep a very close watch on Dozer's (BM) tail.... Oh and getting off topic Dozer at age 3 has developed a cataract in his one eye. to the point that he is blind in that one eye... their taking him to the specialist. I've never heard of a dog developing cataract at such a young age... the vet figures he has had it a couple years now .
Is this common in the Bull Mastiffs ... does anyone know?

I don't know about BMs, but I've known of quite a few Boxers that had juvenile cataracts. It was hereditary. If there wasn't an injury to the eye I would contact the breeder to see if that's been a problem in their lines, or to let them know so that they can check with their other puppy owners.

Thanks Boxergirl....I'll tell my cousin to call her breeder. And to call the owners that bred with her BM, his sired 3 litters. At least now she's going to get him fixed. To bad she didn't know this before she aloud him to breed.

Maybe there was an injury they didn't catch and it's not hereditary. I hope so. Still the right thing to inform everyone it might impact. Wishing everyone the best of luck.

I GET THAT "YOU OWM ME MONEY" LOOK A LOT (two words, by the way from your favorite English teacher). Robert Ruark in his hunting book said that water buffalo look at people like they owe the buffalo money. I picked up on that, the look, and....yes, these dogs really do look like that a lot. Have a great weekend!!! ( Chevers.jpg Someone PM me about forever)

Somebody said that the mastiff tail, or any big dog's tail for that matter, when wet can break a person's leg. When I walk into the room, Mr. Chev starts "drumming" with his tail on the floor, making quite a racket. I often think that I'm glad that the tail is not "beating" on me. Have a great Tuesday !!! I suppose you mastiff owners get the paw on your arm trick that the mastiff's tend to do. I often tell Chev, "I see you...how could I miss seeing you??" In the pic, Chev thinks the weeds will hide him from view.....no way, Chev !! I think he is sneaking up on another dandylion. 121.jpg

You have to humor him, and pretend that you don't see him ;)

When a dog is big as a mountain, it is tough not to "see" him. You Southern girls have an interesting way of coping with the paw :)
