Spartacus question

thank you all for the help about the topic on what to feed Spartacus :)

my next question is this: Spartacus being 6weeks and 3 days today, sleeps a lot but eats an average of 1 full cup a day. I have a vet appt. on Monday but I want to be knowledgeable with what is going on. is it because he was separated so early from his mother that he's like this? why isn't eating 3-4 Times a day? he's such an active puppy that takes lots of naps but doesn't eat much....

any information would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly I'd mix his food with some mothers milk for a week or two just to keep him eating well. I'd give him a half cup or so mixed with mothers milk 3-4 times a day then slowly cut back the milk until hes eating just dry but thats just what id do..

well the thing is that I rescued him so I don't know how nor where I can get mothers milk.. I'm scared maybe I'm not giving him the right nutrition...

He's at an age where he would be weaned anyways so I don't see a need for mothers milk. If you want to try it go ahead but I don't see it being necessary. Give him time. Being 6 weeks involves a lot of sleep, he's still just a baby.

Hank slept all the time when he was that age. We met him at two weeks. We visited twice a week till six weeks then we did one over night a week till eight. That's when he came home to us. I agree he's old enough to be weaned. Remember your stomach is only the size of a fist so look at him his stomach is probably a fraction of that size. As long as he's putting on weight and growing well, I wouldn't worry too much. Good food takes a lot less to fill them up also. Good Luck with the Baby.
