Spartacus Came Back From The Vet..

So appearently he got an infection in his butt for being outside on the grass for too long when we take him potty.

Doctor gave him a shot of Convenia .01-.5 CC and told us to apply this ointment called EnteDerm. He also had bumps on his forhead , legs and chest and he told us that he has skin infection. He told us to bathe him every 5 days with this medicated shampoo called DermaPet. (photos below)

My wife and I have determined that Spartacus is the runt of the litter box since the doctor told us that he definitely cries alot when given a shot and he appears to be only 8lbs at almost 8 weeks, a number we have calculated bec since we rescued him we dont know exactly how old he is. As any Mastiff owner my wife and I feel for this little guy and try to do the best for him and I hope what we are doing is enough to help him grown healthy and strong.

Has anyone gone through this with their dog?

Aww poor guy...hope he feels better soon. I use the Mal-A-Ket pads pretty often. Crickett has 2 bad outbreaks of puppy pimples. So we used the wipes after each meal to keep her chin clean. She hasn't had a break out in months. You can order them online as well...cheaper than the vet I'm sure. Keep them handy, I'm sure your boy will have puppy pimples at some point as well.

Awwwww....

I hope you can make bath time enjoyable for him - sounds like he's going to be taking a few!

I've been lucky enough not to have gone through that one. I don't think I've heard of a dog getting an infection from sitting on grass??

As for being a runt... I've heard a lot of runts grow up to be bigger than the rest of their littermates - it just takes them longer to get there. :)
