Some tips about my cane corso

Hi everyone, my name is Francesco and I am a 23 years old italian guy.

Last week i got a cane corso, my 3rd dog but actually my first mastiff... it was just 32 days old when i went to pick him...i know i shouldn't have and that he was too young, but the old owners whi were giving aways those puppied kept him and his little brothers living in a bad environment, dusty and dirty, not to mention that when i got it it was skinny and had lice on him...so i thought it would be better if i picked him in that very moment or it might be starving and die... fortunately i bought all i needed to cure that and now the lice are gone and my little Hugo has been eating quite much, i mean as my vet suggested
Long story short, when i got Hugo it was 1.8 kgs and very skinny, now it's 40days and its weight is a little more than 3.2 kgs... Reading on internet i noticed that it should be 6kgs at the age of 45days...i don't know whether that's too much or not but i am a little concerned...i mean my puppy looks great and you wouldn't say that it is almost 3kgs under the standard...now i am gonna post some pictures of him,so you can tell me if it is underweight or ok...

Thank you in advance to everyone...enjoy your corso :)

Welcome!! Your little guy is just adorable. I would not stress too much over were he should be. I would just focus on does he look right for him. And looking at the pictures, he looks great. Let him grow at his own pace, slow and steady. He will get to were he is supposed to be at the end.

Thank you for welcoming me :) yeah my little buddy is great, i can really notice the difference between him and my previous dog... He never complains,he seems so mature even though sometimes he is scared if strong noise...but i think it's normal, when he understand thar he is a tough one that will be awesome...anyway i am just a little worried because peeping throught pictures on internet i just realized that any puppy is bigger than mine at his own age...anyway i'll take your advice,i won't put stress or pressure on him or over-feed him...:)

Your little guy is adorable. I wouldn't even look closely at the pictures on the internet and compare them to your boy, that isn't really fair to compare them as he had a terrible start that you got him out of so it is going to to take some time before he catches up to where others of his age are at. In the pictures he looks great and certainly seems to be a happy little guy! As long as the vet says he is healthy then I would continue doing what you are doing! Slow and steady growth is what is best for these guys, so continue what you are doing and we look foward to seeing pictures of your puppy as he grows.

Hi blackshadow...that's very comforting and means a lot to me...i just hope that his bad "past" won't prevent him from growing as big and strong as he is supposed to be...the first 2 days he was a little scared and fearful, then he got confident and i think he is very happy and comfortable...next week i am gonna get him vaccinated...i'll update you guys with new pictures as soon as possible :)

Welcome aboard and best of luck with the new puppy. He looks great, and will develop at his own pace. I would not be surprised if he winds up larger than the average. Don't worry about his size, just socialize him and enjoy him.

He is adorable and I agree with the others. As long as he is happy and healthy then dont worry about what other dogs look like at his age. He will grow in his own time.

Hi and welcome :)
He will catch up, give him it e and keep him healthy.
A slow growth weight will be better on his joints over the long haul. He will reach the weight and size he is genetically predisposed to be. The CC and mastiff breeds take a long time to mature, they don't usually reach their full weight until 3 ish.
Love him and enjoy the fact you can carry him while you can.

great looking little pup, when my CC was a puppy he developed a serious bacterial infection in his intestines and for the longest time he was underweight and smaller than his brother, but after about 6 months they were neck and neck again.
you say you can already tell a difference between him and your other dogs and trust me, he will be the best dog you've had, CC's are truly amazing!!!

Guys i wanted to ask you something...is that normal that my puppy has the hiccup quite often? Especially when he is done eating or when he wakes up...

Yep. I thought I read on here that frequent hiccups were a sign of growing? Duchess used to get them all the time. Heck she still gets them.

haha...as far as I know its pretty normal. and very cute! try getting him to slow down when he eats if he is a quick eater. some people put a ball in the food bowl so he has to work around it and not gobble his food down too quickly.

I'm sorry if I'm posting in a wrong place. I was trying to find something like a growth chart or somebody's record but i couldn't. I have a question about my CC puppy. He is 16 weeks old, height 17,5 inches and weight 33 pounds. In your experience is this ok for his age? His parents are both good looking and over the standard. I am aware a lot depends of the genetics. the reason I'm asking is that a couple of people told me that he looks kind of small. Don't get me wrong, I didn't buy a CC because i wanted a big or scary dog. I just want him to be healthy and, if needed, change his diet or add some supplements. I a feeding him Royal Canine Maxi Junior, vitamin A and D and calcium.
Anyway
Thanks in advance.
