Sluggishness-- diet, exercise or breed?

Martin, our recently rescued Mastiff, has been adjusting quite well to her new environment. I am noticing, however, that she is very sluggish. I have never owned a Mastiff before, or any large breed dog for that matter, so I am wondering if this is a function of her breed, her diet, or the exercise regimen. Any ideas or tricks? Or should I not worry about it?

Thanks!

Elaborate on "sluggish"

You are not going to see the energy out of a Mastiff like you would with a lap dog or a Lab. Also, the fact that she is a rascue and is getting used to things could have an effect on her energy ????

But I think with a little more elaboration, the experts can give you a better idea of wether it has to do with health, or just adjustment/breed issues.

Picture looks perfectly normal, our 3-year-old mastiff rescue does the same thing for most of the day. He's perfectly happy to go on walks and play ball in the back yard, but when he's indoors he doesn't show interest in anything except crashing on the couch. If we let him, he'd spend all day up there, taking a brief bathroom break twice a day.
EMs are notorious couch potatoes, but don't confuse that with joint problems or lethargy. What's her capillary refill time? Does she seem to have problems negotiating stairs/couch heights, etc. (something that might indicate sore joints)? Also, how old is she?

I have a 9 month old EM pup and I have to agree with Marrow. When he is outside he is crazy and playful but when he is inside he is slow and spends alot of time on the couch. He loves his couch. The couch is supposed to be mine but when he is on it there is no room for anyone else to sit lol. It takes an act of congress to get him to go out to go potty cause he will hold it but once out there he really gets to playing with my other dog. I wish you luck with your rescue. Just give her time and see if it's just the transition period. BTW she is very pretty!

Looks just like my English... his best exersice is "nap time" :) he gets in his play time, then it's nite nite time...

i wouldn't worry too much, it's part of the breeds nature.
