Saw a Fila in a dog run this afternoon

AB how dare you think this is correct. ahahaha. I to think a well balanced fila is alot more capable of being not evil than many, including most fila owners, give them credit.

Yep, Cane wouldn't be half the lounging maniac, if I wasn't such a scitskoid.

That would be so cool! (meeting a Fila, not trying to smooch one!). Definetly get us pictures!

Yeah-- the thing is, I'm trying to not be so attached to my iPhone, so I leave it at home sometimes when I take Mateo out for a walk.

And then I meet a Fila. Go figure...

Don't leave home without NYDDB! So jealous that you actually got to meet a Fila in person.

how awesome!!I to love to meet others with "problem" as my boyfriend likes to refer to it!I thank god everyday that my bff has the same "problem" as I do and also has the love for the Filas! we always have things to talk about and do together.guess that is why she and I have been bff's for 20yrs.we got our 1st Filas on together on the same day.and she still has a Fila now,but has added a Cane Corso to her mix.

you made me chuckle with the unicorn comment lol i feel like i walk unicorns as everyone stares but then again i am walking 5 of them lol. The fila love is like no other, and yes they always always have an eyeball on their owner. Glad you got to meet one in person, and they are normaly not dog aggressive so hope they get to play one day so you can see how athletic they are.
oh how I would love to have 5 Filas!!!Yes, back when I showed Dogos,I could stop traffic anywhere(did once at a show in DC)walking 2 Filas and 5 Dogos!!LOL!!with having Filas, all of my dog had to travel to the shows with me!

Thanks for sharing that. The bond that the owners talk about on here sounds unbelievable. I never even thought about the whole foster home and them not being able to stay in one home for too long! How old was Ziva when you adopted her?

Ziva was 3 and we have had her for almost 2 years now. Honestly, one of the most rewarding things that we have ever done. It was just terrible, the shape she was in. She still has horrific nightmares. She will snarl and yelp in her sleep and her body will shake and tremble but those have even decreased to a couple of times a night. She has really come a long ways. She is the biggest love bug to us.

I love to share her story. I'm so proud of her. I hope that the more others hear of her success, they might take a chance on a rescue, especially one in crisis. I also hope that others will not give up because of the red tape and hoops that some rescues make you jump through. Because in the end it is so worth it.

Thank you but all the credit goes to her. She had to trust. We just got the rewards of a super loving dog.

I am curious what she would say about the difference in bond between her Fila and her Corso with her. The way I read about Fila love is how I feel about my dogs so I am curious to know the difference from some one who has first hand experience. That would be so COOL! I am still waiting to meet that unicorn ;) guess I will have to wait until this summer when I will be 15 minutes down the road from Mountain Fila!

Wow-- five! That has got to be an impressive sight...

Yeah, since introductions were made between our two dogs, and they seemed to kind of like each other, I am sure they will interact more when I run into them again. And she seemed in very good condition, lean and athletic...

But I was telling the guy that her face could fool so many people, lol--- such a "soft" expression, you just wanted to go up and smooch her.... :nono:

ya no smooching a strange fila hahaha a little hazardous to your health hahaha. Ya i dont walk 5 anymore as the kids are getting to be the same size as mom and dad and need a bit more leash manners, their temp is crazy at 5 months already and because they are a very unique breed my street has been crazy with lots of walkers and my hooligans hit the fence barking and carrying on like they are going to eat the people and loud OH MY GOD!!!! Im talking every 10-15 mins someone would go by , it got to the point of the dogs want out so i let them out and no sooner had i shut the door i could hear them all light up, so call them all back in, then 2 mins later dogs want out cause they never got to go pee as they were to busy freaking out so let them out again and yup no sooner i close the door dogs are back at it again freaking at the fence at people going by, this went on all day so i went out with them to do yard pick up and i seen some people before they did, so i picked up my shovel and i told them if they didnt stop it i was going to hit them all in the F'n head lol (i would never but dont tell them that lol) with the shovel and i showed them the shovel, well if they didnt all go up on the porch and not another peep, even when our neighbor came home in his clangy work truck, not a peep, i think they know to much english:eek:

we actually have had this discussion many times.as this is our first hands on experience with a CC.Georgia, the CC,is a rescue.I went with her to Richmond to get her,she was about 5-6 months old.My friend already had another Fila at home who was 2yrs old.Georgia bonded with Stella, the Fila, first.About a year later, the Fila passed suddenly and Georgia was tramatized.Georgia started to bond with my friends daughter then and some with my friend. Not the same bond as her Filas, but a bond nonetheless.About a year later she rescued another Fila,Nora was 7 months old,at first Georgia did not like her and wanted nothing to do with her. Now, a year and a half later they are totally bonded with each other.Nora is more bonded to my friend and her daughter. But, Georgia is only truly bonded to Nora. Not sure if it is a Georgia thing or more so a CC thing.Like I said,we have been Fila people for 20 yrs,so we know them and their quirks. When they go outside, when raining, they go one at a time, Georgia is dying to get in and goes straight to Nora. Now Nora, will beg to come in and goes straight to my friend. It is pretty interesting.

Filas can be very dangerous. Mostly in the wrong hands or to the wrong fool who jumps the fence.

AB dont discredit your self. She had to trust, but you my friend gave her someone she could trust

Honestly there is no effing way I could have Athena in a dog run TBH off leash + athena = lawsuit that guy was brave and to me owning a fila...a little dangerous....he may know dogs but he was too comfortable for me...Athena may not go after you if you keep your distance dont seem threatening but all it may take is you picking a stick up to throw to your dog and you could be bitten....atleast thats how she makes it seem and im not gonna test it
