Question for anyone with a grown up EM.

Over the past few weeks most of Kryten's growth has been in his skin. He has always had tight skin but now I can move it with ease and when he sits he develops rolls. My question is this: Is there a correlation between excess (loose) skin and final size? I don't remember either of his parents having many wrinkles. He is about 10.5 months now and I have noticed that his legs do appear to be getting thicker (he doesn't look like he is on spindles anymore)

Nope sorry lol. Apollo never got loose skin, not that he's a EM. I could kinda see it as him getting ready for a growthspurt though?

Hmm, when my EM was about a month or so he didn't had much loose skin. Not that I remember, but at 8 to 9 months of age...I noticed that his skin near his neck is all loose as in when I put on a collar I can see the loose skin when pulled but not like those Chinese dogs if you know what I mean.

Maybe someone with an older em can comment on this clearly.

RC + Windy City = ? ? ?

Ruger will be 10 months on the 18th and he is going through a massive growth spurt and he has lots of loose skin as well. I just assumed that he will grow into it. As a matter of fact, he has already begun to grow into it.....A few weeks ago he had massive loose skin around his neck (I know he will have that when he is grown but pretty extensive amounts) and now his neck has grown into the excess.....He does have pretty loose skin all over now and he is growing and growing. I was thinking it was an indicator of adult size. I am glad that you asked this question, I look forward to hearing from someone with a grown up EM.

That's about what I've been thinking. I was curious if that's what others have noticed as well. I agree about the neck, Kryten's grew about 3 inches in 2 weeks, it felt like I had to adjust his collar daily.

I know! It is crazy!! Ruger seems to be filling out so fast! The neck was the biggest but his legs are so much bigger now and he was a spindle leg. too. :)

This said, some lines have looser skin; some are 'tighter'. It may be genetics...what did their parents and grandparents look like?

Every mastiff I have had gets what I affectionately call a skin flap right before a huge growth spurt sometimes it lays flat on the floor even along their back not just the neck.
