Prefers wood floor over plush pillows and dog beds?

Just wondering if anyone else's mastiffs do this. I've bought him a plush dog bed and pillows but my 1 year old mastiff prefers the floor and I'm trying to prevent soreness on his legs along with the abrasions. Anyone else experience this?

Ohhhh yes. Ebony much prefers sleeping on the floor. She even woke us up one night pulling up her kennel liner so she could be on the hard plastic underneath. She only seems to do it when it's hot out though ... the hard floor's a lot cooler than her doggy bed or the couch. If it's warm where you are, your mastiff might just be trying to stay cool. A light cotton throw or an old sheet laid down might offer some cushion and won't be as hot as a stuffed doggie bed or a sleeping blanket.

I have a loveseat in my family room that is a real slick fabric, ( not sure what it is) Lillie loves that loveseat. In her crate I have one of those couches for kids that folds out to a bed and she loves it too because it is a cooler fabric.

I recently spent over 100 bucks and bought a dog bed for my English Mastiff Sparta but the silly goose is afraid to use it! I tried hiding doggy treats, everything I could think of to get her to sleep on it but she refuses...she'll lay on a blanket or the tile but not on the bed. It's real cushy about 5 inches thick made with foam and I guess because she sinks into it slightly that frightens her. I'm at a loss as to what to do, especially considering she weighs over 170 pounds and I worry about her joints too!

My dog has eaten more dog beds than I care to mention. Needless to say I got the picture his room has a concrete floor and he loves it.

@Frankencat I had the same experience with the foam bed. He lays on it now when he's outside on the deck but wouldn't lay on it in the house. Silly dog! Now, it's the same thing with the pillow! Maybe I'm silly for continuing to buy him stuff he doesn't want.
