Post crop support

It's typically 10 days, but I've heard up to 14 days. I don't know about taking them out yourself, would probably recommend against that

How long after the crop do the stitches come out? Has anyone done that themselves?

I took my girls stitches out myself. She broke the bottom stitch on one ear and I realized how easy they were to take out. I waited until ears were completely healed no scabs. My girl is really calm which made it easy to.

I guess it depends on the situation. Sometimes stitches are just falling out when wounds are healed and come out easy. I've pulled my own out on several occasions. But if they are at all scabbed over or buried, I'd likely let the vet handle it.

It's still early in the process. I don't think I would tape the other ear at this point. The fact that the ear is lying on top of the head is a better sign that if it was flopping down. My vet tells me no Neosporin. He wants the area to stay dry and let the air get to it.

Im thinking im gonna take em out myself when its time. Might have my wife do it seein she is a nurse and has more practice than me lol. They are scabbed over pretty good and its been less than a week. Ill wait til the scabs are gone

I just came back from the vet. I had him retape the cup back on. It was another bought of pain for the pain since the ears needed to be stretched, but I didn't want to take any chances with the pocket on that one ear. Hopefully it will stay on this time. I had it reinforced with a strap this time

I took my pup to get stitches out and she hated it. It was healing pretty well but some scabs had grown over. One ear was worse so I actually had them put her out. I would dissolvable stitches next time. One ear was layer down and I just let it heal naturally and after a couple weeks she started controlling it and now it's standing just fine. I just out newsprint on after stitches removed and it's healing very nicely. The front of each ear is bent a little so I may tape them up in a week or so for that but other than that, nature did its job.

I'm interested in knowing if you would do this again, I like the look of the cropped ears and docked tail but now that my pup had grown into her floppy ears I think I like them natural.

I would say then leave them as they are :) I'm trying to stay positive because I'm still in the middle of this, but if I could rewind time, I'd likely leave them alone.

He's doing fine. We had a couple of mishaps where he knocked the cup off that I mentioned to you and I went back to the vet and he taped it back on. Last night he knocked it off again and now I'm just leaving them as they are until they heal. It's been a pain in the @ss and I'm sure it will continue to be for a while. The good news is they aren't raw anymore so he let's me clean and powder them. I think I'll be happy with the results in a few weeks and won't regret doing it eventually, but right now I feel like a full time nurse :)

He's about 15 weeks. I brought him home from italy at 12 and did the surgery at 14. The extra age has added to the complications. He alot more rambunctious now than he was 3 weeks ago. The crop looks good, the problem is that he had a pocket on one side that causes the ear to fold onto his head. I tried getting a breathe right strip in that ear but i can't get it to stick. I'll use skin adhesive and mole skin or post the ears once the stitches are out I'm thinking.

They came out pretty good. They point inwards towards the middle of his head and are a bit longer than ideal but overall I think he looks good and his head will likely grow into them I'm thinking.
