Oversized Corso Pup?

Wondering if I should be concerned with the size and rate of growth with my Corso Pup. We have been feeding him a raw diet, prey model. He has been on raw since 11 or 12 weeks old. He is 19 weeks and weighs around 69 lbs (I weigh him every thursday). I've seen some growth charts and my dog exceeds them. Below is his age and weight.

Weeks Weight
10 24
11 27
12 ~31 (estimate)
13 ~36 (estimate)
14 42
15 49
16 55
17 62
18 65

A typical daily diet is:
Breakfast- .8 lbs of ground beef heart/organ (80% heart, 10% kidney, 10% liver)
Lunch- Chicken back about .6 lbs
Dinner- 2 Chicken backs or beef heart or Venison about 1.2 lbs

Occasionaly I will substitue a chicken back for liver, fish, or squirrel. But he usually get about 2.5 lbs/day of raw. Is this too much? We are about to start feeding him 2 times a day.

We exercise and play with him daily. He is not fat, you can see his last couple of ribs.

So do you think I should be concerened with his size? I worry about hip issues.

I can't comment too much because mine is still very young, but my female was 25 pounds at 11 weeks. So for a male that doesn't sound abnormal. As to the food, you need to go by his body. You say you can see the last couple ribs, which sounds perfect to me. As long as he is not fat, you can feel ribs than I wouldn't worry. Pics?

He could just be from a fast growing line. I had the opposite problem with my EM he was always under all the charts I could find online. Some of the other puppies were 20 lbs or more heavier than he was at the same age. I just made sure that he was at a good body condition and decided to ignore how he compared.

I saw that chart already. That is what makes me wonder if my boy is growing too fast. It say for 19 weeks their dogs were between 36.8 & 60 lbs. He is atleast 69 lbs. He has been gaining 6-7 lbs a week. I feed him 2.5 lbs a day and he grows 1 lb a day! I just don't want him to develop any hip problems from growing to quick. Around twelve weeks he began to pack on the size.

As long as he's not packing on extra padding and you like his body condition - seeing ribs is good at this age - I'd say he's just a good grower!

Do you know how much his parents weighed?

Denna gets about 3lbs of raw food a day, as a mid/low-energy EM. Her parents were 185 and 200lbs, so we're low on the % scale (only 1.6% of 185lbs), but she gains "padding" when we go over 3lbs/day. She's up to 135lbs now at 16 months, which is on track for something close to 185, eventually...

So, while gaining 1lb/day seems FAST (Denna averaged 0.5lb/day), it sounds to me like you're right on track for your pup.
You can try cutting back on food for a few days... but if the ribs start getting more pronounced, you'll know he needs the extra.

My corso is 7.5 months and 101lbs. In comparison to the charts he is on the upper end of most of the growth charts. Like others have said growth can be variable and wouldn't stress too much as long as pup isn't chunky. After 3 months the puppy belly should be gone and they should start looking lean and athletic IMO.

I wouldn't worry too much about the chart. As long as he is healthy and growing well that is what is important. Most of the charts are based on the FCI standard and stop at 110lbs, thing is most male CC in North America and Europe are larger then that. It is one of the things in the standard that I believe they are trying to change overseas. IMO the weight of the dog is not important, is just numbers that people get caught up on. What is important is that the dogs are healthy, balanced and have correct type. Now I am not advocating huge Corso that can't move, they should remain athletic, but the numbers are just that.
