Ok Fila people - show me your best protection videos!

I have heard that some military units use filas but I have not seen video...I have never seen a video of anyone who trains filas for personal protection with commands as I mentioned earlier most video of TT seems to be just their reaction to stranger with varying degree of hostility and distances and if they have proper temperament they will naturally defend against stranger and hostile actions. not sure whether just conducting the test can be considered training if it happens frequently? maybe this would be some kind of conditioning, you do occassionally see the owners giving the dog praise after they have gone up against the stranger....

Thats all the reaction is to be, to see if the dog has natural ability, that it has not been trained to have that reaction. A true fila does not want the sleeve , it wants to grab you buy the head, it will grab the sleeve and spit it out and go at you again and most of the time it will try and use the sleeve as a step up to get your face. A temp test is a one time thing any kind of aggitation after that would be training i would think. You can tell if a dog has been aggitated before just by the way he attacks and holds onto the sleeve, he has been taught that, a fila that has no aggitation training will either attack upwards trying to get the face or turn and run behind the owner. Afila that attacks without hesitation gets a pass, the one that does nothing or hides is given a fail, thats it.

This thread makes me want a Fila even more. I plan on buying some land sometime soon and would love a dog like this that I could totally trust with my family but would f some sh#t up if something/someone came onto my property. I remember that thread of the lady in south TX whose Fila was killing coyotes. What an awesome breed they are. I don't think I'm ready for one, but one day I will have one or two.

That was my point earlier. There was no playing going on in my pics. She precieved that club in his hands as a threat and she turned on. Thats the most extreme case. But by no means the only case. She has turned on many a times over very small things, but she seen a threat. Hell just yesterday another old neighbor was here telling a story. He raised his arm to fast and she lunged. Same dude moved his foot to fast and scrapped it on the ground, she lunged. Thats what Filas do.

When your friends come over to you crate them? or do you just keep a leash on her if people are there?

I leash her. She only gets crated if we are camping and need to leave the camper or cabin so my mom can come and go. We usually share a cabin. Over the holidays I spent the whole weekend walking her in a house with a leash. At this house we plan to run a fence from the back of the house to the side fences. So we can put them on the back acre while folks are over. I dont like being in doors so when my friends are over she's in the house and were in the shop

how big is she now? I have been around big breeds my entire life but I can not imagine trying to hold a Fila back when they are in that mode. Can your wife control her?

This is our now 3 year old 145 lbs male

video was taken same day to show both faces of the dog.

That said, best video. A Fila is not interested in a suit but the person. You don't really want to train this behaviour as many have it build in. We did want to see the reaction of our male so we did do some bitework to see his reaction. Some you can see on this video.

My wife also trains KNPV (Policedog in holland) and mondioring in Belgium. She took the dog to the Mondioring club 1 time, leach tied to tree, man in the suit attacking the dog and then.. the leach broke, oeps many people were shitting their pants. Luckily this dog is cool in his head, my wife taking video came running and shouting and he just layed down. We now know he will bite and protect.

You will see many cafib video's where dogs have been trained to show temperament but this is trained behaviour to react on any stranger. What you are really looking for is a dog cool in his head reacting when needed. We our lucky our Brindle male is like that. Hence when we are around woman can toch him, he is ok with children, dominant male Humans, don't toch him. when we are not around he turns the switch.

I dont really want a dog, least not a fila, that folks can touch my self. Like I've said I can walk her right into a garage full of folks and chill. But theres always a safty zone. If you walk up to use she will go crazy. I will have to grab her collar, sit her, and sit right in her face and say enough, good girl, it's ok yadda yadda yadda. Then she will be calm. But you have to stay out side of the strike zone for your own safty. One fast move she will hit. I mean you can sit a foot away once she's calm, but just one wrong move she will bite you. I would never let a women or child even get close to touching her.

I would love to meet ( observe from a distance lol) a Fila. The pure raw power that these dogs have are truly amazing and very scary. I understand (from what i have read on here) that they are extremely good with the family, do you ever worry about your kids around her? I am don't mean that she will turn on the family but what if say the child was playing with her and hurt her or got too rough with her?
