An interesting little article and video about the great Newfounland Dogs.

I thought you'd like this Pin on Pinterest... http://pin.it/ia1PeOI

I had Newfies before I had mastiffs. They are great dogs! Mine seldom ever barked and had the personality of Winnie the Pooh. Unless they thought you were dangerous, then they just sat in my feet between me and the threat. No one was goi g to get past them. No growling or snarling, just sitting or standing on alert.

When we had a swimming pool they would always jump on with us and herd us to the edge. It was just too hot in Texas so we went with a short hair breed. That began our love affair with mastiffs. [emoji173]️

I always remember a story I read somewhere years ago.

It was about a little boy, whose neighbours had a Newfie, which the child would great every day.

One winter's day, the boy had gone over to a frozen pond some distance from the houses to play. The ice broke, and the child fell into the frigid waters.

Apparantly no one heard his cries for help, other than the Newfie, who somehow cleared a six foot fence, and went into Newfie rescue mode.

Locating the pond, he plunged into the icy waters, grabbed the child and dragged him to safety, staying with him until someone else noticed the missing child and dog and came looking.

Whenever I see a Newfie, my mind always goes back to this little story, and I have to smile. They are such sweet natured, gentle dogs.

That is a great story and totally true to their nature!
