Hello all! Just joined the forum looking to make a few new Mastiff friends and learn more about the breed. Lucy, my 18 month old Mastiff is the greatest dog ever!! (to me anyway). My husband and I are thinking of breeding her, but know that we must wait till she's at least 2, and will probably wait till she's almost 3 before we breed (if we breed).
Lucy is on her 1st heat right now. Just started two days ago. How long do Mastiff heat cycles last?
Are the heat cycles like most breeds and come every 6 months?
and last, where do find diapers for Mastiffs in heat?
I've been using men's underwear, and a women's pad, but the underwear doesn't stay on her very well, so I took it off and have been making her stayin in the kitchen mostly or on the rug in the living room. She's 18 months and weighs about 140 pounds, and the pads I've found at PetSmart aren't large enough for her and I can't find any online that are large enough for her. Any suggestions?
