I was recommended by my breeder natures domain puppy then adult food! She loves the food but might be time to change... My pups stool is consistently like soft serve ice cream! Spoke with her vet and he said to bring in stool sample to rule out parasites.... no parasites thank God!! Doc said try to give her a different food.... any recommendations on what is the best kibble to give my CC pup? She is 5 months old! Thanks

Look for a limited ingredient food with no poultry in it and no grains (read the ingredient list as most foods contain chicken fat for flavor). beef is another one that a lot of dogs are allergic to so if you go for lamb or salmon as the protein you will be safest.

There is also a food rating site that should be listed in a thread in our food and nutrition section. I think it is called dogadvisor or something like that.

We have had good luck with canidae for our food.

You can also do a food reset before starting the new kibble. Just boil chicken breasts and make white rice and feed that as the meals for a few days or a week and it works great to reset their digestive systems. (Works for humans too)

Has she ever had solid stools? When did the consistency change? Which nature's domain are you feeding her? If I remember correctly, the puppy formula is chicken based and many mastiffs don't do well on chicken. The stool check is a good first step. Also make sure you aren't over feeding. Sometimes cutting back on amount can make a huge difference.

As for best kibble, it totally depends on the dog. I feed Nature's Domain, but I tried many other foods before hitting on one that worked for all of my dogs. I like Acana and Earthborn, but they didn't work for all of my dogs. Of course now I have three different foods due to health needs, but the Nature's Domain works for three out of the five that are here right now.

I forgot to mention the possiblity of over feeding! Boxergirl is correct that too much food also causes loose stools.

I'm a fan of Acana, but...(I'm guilty)...I tend to overfeed my begging pup. Acana is low heat produced and free of many of the allergens that hurt dogs.

Please try out Dogfoodadvisor.com for more detailed info. Most of the site is free, but there is a paid section if you choose for more in depth info.

Best of luck.
