I just had Diesel neutured 3 weeks ago and it seems like he's always hungry. I'm concerned about increasing his food because of weight gain. He also started licking at this tail until it's raw. I don't know if this issue is related to neuturing or not.
Have you checked him for fleas? Fleas tend to gather at the base of the tail and that could be why he is licking it so much. I don't think having him neutered will increase his appetite, but it can increase his chances for gaining weight. How old is he?
He's just over a year old isn't he? If so he could be hitting another growth spurt and that's why he's hungry. Kryten's growth was really slow between 11 & 15 months.
he is just over a year. turned one May 24. Never thought of a growth spurt that makes sense. As for fleas i checked. He doesn't bit his back end just the very end of his tail. Strange?
I know when Jiggers developed a lick granuloma following a vaccination I managed to stop the licking so that it could heal by coating the area with polysporin and then sprinkling the area with cayenne pepper. This worked for him because he hates anything spicy.
