My pup is 3 months old, and he keeps ripping his one nail down to were it bleeds. I was wondering if there was anything i could do to stop this from happening. He doesnt seem to care that it happens, even when i look at it he doesnt get upset or anything. It always happens when were on a walk.

Thanks,
will

When I accidentaly cut my dogs nail too short i use a product i got from the vet, i forgot what its called but it looks like powder and u dip your dogs nail into it and it stops the bleeding. this could work for your problem too, ill have to post the name of it when i get to my house later.

I had one who chewed her nails like that. She'd lick at hers until the bleeding stopped though.

What nail is it exactly?

You can buy some styptic powder to use to stop the bleeding. But if you don't have any of that, go to the pantry, get a pinchful of flour, and press that against the dog's bleeding nail. It works like a charm to stop the bleeding. (Remember that you will need to apply some pressure for a few seconds to a minute or so no matter which product/method you use ;) ).
