My new Mastiff puppy I brought home had 2 cyst on her neck??

I just got her Friday night and we found a couple (almost) golfball sized cyst around her neck. Her neck is so loose we didnt notice them when we picked her up. The Vet took a sample from them and we are expecting results in a couple days. He was able to drain it and he said it was a water like substance so I shouldnt be too worried. My wife is freaking out though. She has a third eyelid now 2 big cyst. Is this a red flag?? My wife thinks she is a lemon. I was told by a friend not to worry about the cyst but my wife can't. Anyone here have cyst issues when they got the English mmastiff? Thanks...

The poor puppy. It is possible that it is just from a play bite from his littermates. If that is all it still could take up to several weeks to completly go away. It could also just be from where a vaccine was given?, again no worries. Usually watery substance is a good sign. Just don't be squeezing on it though, so you don't irritate it. Fingers crossed here that that is all it is :eek: Keep us posted on what the vet says!!

My BB Murray has a few of them and they move when you wiggle them. What his are called are calcium buildups.They do not hurt him or bother him nor are they harmful. I will have them removed next vet visit but vet said no worries so I am not worried. I hope this is nothing serious ...keep us posted. :)

DVD, I mean no disrespect when I say this but perhaps you should reevaluate the situation and decide if this type of dog is best for your family situation. It seems to me, as an outsider, that your wife doesn't want this dog. Droopy eyes is perfectly normal...all dogs have this eyelid....some show and some don't. Other than being a fault in the show ring it should be no big deal. The "watery" cyst are pretty normal also. If your wife is ready to throw in the towel now wait until the diarrhea, extreme gas, or sticky drool really comes into play. Again, I'm not being mean or judgmental, I'm just giving my opinion. Good luck to you and your family!

I agree Appa I also mean no disrespect but I have been following your posts DVD and the fact that you are utilizing the forum for pointers,questions and ppl's input is great and it is awesome that there is a community out here that we can all be one great big happy Mastiff family. Bouncing ideas and issues and concerns off other members is one of the reasons I joined but having said that I have gone back in your history and the general content of your posts are if only mentioned once in a few of them is that your wife is not happy about...
the appearance
the size
or the overall fact that you now own a Mastiff
I truly hope that she can find it in her heart to give this girl a chance but like Appa just pointed out what happens when the drool kicks in, the gas (I have experienced my fair share of it) can be corrected but not eliminated :) so many things to consider owning a Mastiff and in my opinion more to consider then owning a smaller breed. I could have thrown in the towel when I rescued my boy who as beaten and tainted when I got him. After 5 consecutive sleepless nights when I first got him my friend told me get rid of him he is trouble and too much work. Really??!! Thats why I am his third owner in 2 years. It is and was not his fault for being badly beaten and tortured. So for that reason I gave him a chance and rehabilitated him into a loving,gentle,well behaved boy so if I listened to my friend that night I brought him home where would he be now? So the point I want to make is dont give up so early and give her a chance but if you think that even if your wife gives her a chance there will still be that underlying resentment (from your wife) that you brought this girl home, and there might very well be a time somewhere down the road that your wife says she has to go no matter what she cannot stay then what? I anticipate that she might very well feel that way when the drooling kicks in if it hasn't already. I am not being mean or judgmental either I am just saying dont throw in the towel just yet help your wife give her a chance. There are a lot of really good reasons for wanting to own a Mastiff. Maybe show your wife the positive attributes to having a Mastiff and maybe that will help her accept. But if you think your wife will under no circumstances what so ever be able to accept her then you must re-evaluate your situation and maybe re-consider a breed that everyone in your house is happy with.
