Well just got back from the vet ....scheduled shots and as soon as we got home he started to bark so I took him out n sure enough he had to go but it was extremely loose so I was like maybe it was the shots ....we got to bed and about 1:30am he barked I thought well he heard something so I get up @ my scheduled time and to my surprise his kennel was destroyed (i'll save the details ) but man horrible so I wash him up clean it up .....when I get back my son tells me that it was deja vu ...OK I call the vet he said well it wasn't the shots and that he would be ok ....he said no water or food till the next day and feed him white rice and hamburger for about 3 days till his stomach settles then gradually mix his kibble in .....has any one every go through this ?

With puppies that can get into anything it is hard to say what can cause it. I have had animals react to shot though so I don't rule it out completely, I just make sure that the day they have them I am off for the next day or 2 so that if they need to go out fast I am there. We do pretty much what your vet advised when dealing with this issue. No food and tiny amounts of water to give the stomach time to settle. Then small amounts of rice and hamburger for a few days. We add some pumpkin for fibre and yogurt to help the bacteria culture but some vets don't advise that.

Good luck with your boy and hope he is feeling better soon.

I think you need a new vet...

Bc animals CAN have reactions to vaccines and medicines. Also I dont know why he is telling you to feed hambuger meat. I agree with yogurt though.

I personally havent had any of my pets react to vaccines.

I just dont see why he would suggest hambuger meat. How is that going to help his tummy? Did he say why he chose that meat? I know switching from kibble to raw doesnt hurt a dogs tummy and feeding raw is GREAT for dogs but thats usually starting with chicken and then introducing other things like turkey and pork

I agree, beef is high in protein and very rich, it is actually one of the tougher meats to digest.
When my dogs stomachs act up we do boiled chicken with mashed sweet potatos, a bit of pumpkin, some rice cooked with the chicken water and a dollup of plain yogurt. I make a big batch and mix together. If you want to do red meat then lamb is way better then beef, is one of the easiest meats to digest.
Who knows what it is, could be a vaccination, could be something he ate in the yard...
