My Cane Corso seems to be scared...

He is turning 6 months old in a week, i love him he is so friendly and smart and many of my friends have dogs too. When i take him to the park with my friend dog - Husky mix female which is over 1.5 year old he seems to be scared. Whenever she charges at him to play he will just lay at the grass. This is my first dog and don't get me wrong, i don't want him to be aggressive all i want is him to feel safe and i would do anything needed to keep him out of hurt, and in the end is hell of a strong dog. And yeah he never been attacked from another dog or similar. Thanks in advance!

Its nothing to worry about, he's just being submissive to avoid getting hurt At about 6 months most puppies go through a phase where they can get nervous easily, things that didn't bother them can start bothering them, but its justa phase, part of growing it'll pass soon enough.

You might need to find him some lower-energy dogs to play with to help bring him out of his shell to begin with, too.

See if there's a puppy play-group in your area, or join a puppy class. You may already know all the obedience stuff, but they normally sprinkle in some social play time in the classes, too. I always enjoy seeing all the other puppies that show up, anyway. :)

Hopefully the husky pup will read his submissive signals and slow down a little... be a little more enticing to play instead of "charging"... but, you can't bank on that - not if she's a husky!

Bella will be 6 months in a week also. She is fine with other dogs as long as they don't get in her face. We walk a lot a the park and she just passes other dogs without seeming to even give them a second glance. We go inside the dog part only at certain times, it depends on how many dogs are in there, their behavior, and how much attention the owners are paying to their dogs. When we are inside, and she is off leash she is happy just to trot around, but if some dog continuously pesters her by getting in her face she does not like it; when that becomes an issue then we just leave. I don't think at her age she would be happy to be playing with another dog in the situation your are describing...especially if they are both on leashes. I try to really pay attention to what Bella's body language is telling me in these situations; I think this is an important time in their development, and I don't want one bad incidence to effect how she perceives other dogs the rest of her life. Just my thoughts.

I saw in another thread someone mentioned mastiffs coming into their true temperament at 2 years old, and other threads have referenced the "teenage years". Is there some sort of website or something that explains all these different phases by age? Thanks.
