My 5month old is getting too aggressive. Help.

I have two female corso puppies. One is a year and a half, the other 5 months. Recently the younger one has become very assertive and protective. I decided to try and introduce her to some friends alone, with out the older. She started growling and even lunged at one of their kids. She has never been this aggressive with the older dog by her side. Later I took her to the dog park where she begged me to pick her up but I didnt and she got into a fight with a lab. Intervening the fight, I got bit. Not sure which dog it was but it scared me enough to call a personal dog trainer. I was contemplating getting a muzzel and trying the dog park again. Any suggestions. (The older dog was rescued from the pound at five months and has never ever shown any signs of aggression, she is completely submissive, so I haven't had to address this before.)

It's really not a good idea to take a dog with any kind of aggression problems to a dog park, muzzle or not. Sometimes muzzles (and leashes) can cause the dog wearing the muzzle or leash to lash out because they don't feel comfortable or other dogs can see that the dog is vulnerable and feed off that. Until you can get a good grip on the aggression, bringing her to a dog park is a recipe for disaster.

I would have the trainer come in and observe what is going on to help you with this situation. At 5 months you are already worried and she is already acting aggressively, it is not going to be a situation that ends well without professional help. It isn't something we can provide some great tips on as we can't see if there is a trigger or what her issue might be, make sure the professional trainer has working breed experience and if possible experience with the Cane Corso. I would keep her out of dog parks, mastiffs don't tend to be good at dog parks (their are exceptions to ever rule) as while they won't generally start a fight they will finish it and even then your dog maybe well trained and under control but it doesn't mean that others that take their dogs there have well mannered dogs.
