We have an EM, and he is not as bad as I was expecting! Only around food and after drinking, and he has some big ole floppy lips! He actually does not drool as much as our newfy-which was surprising. Drool rags placed strategically around the house make a big difference. I have to say the trade offs are more than worth it, he'll be a year on the 18th and has been, by far, our easiest puppy ever. Well worth a little extra cleaning and few extra loads of laundry. Not very familar with the bull mastiff, but something tells me that you can't go wrong whichever you end up with!

I might get some people upset but... You could always look into the American Mastiff. Some people on here don't like them, but I've had nothing but good experiences with the ones I have met. You can always go to amfamilyforum.net to get more info. They are a newer breed and are not AKC recognized, but that shouldn't matter... I hope :)

Neos definitely wouldn't work. It's Niagara falls every time they drink especially if their flews are very large. We have gob rags in every room, sometimes several of them. She sees a treat and the water works start. Hours after she eats, pieces of food are still falling out of her lips. lol
