Okay so we are pretty active with assisting my kennel club with shows, and attending some in our areas during the show season here. I would love for my girls to be active in the show areas (if they aren't that is fine too) but as I am a research addict and I don't think handling an intact corso for a young child is a good idea, if they do chose to get into showing or working I want to get them an appropriate dog that can live in our house with the big dogs. Anyone have recommendations on breeds to research or what breeds they have in combo they recommend?

I have an English Mastiff (180lb), a Norwegian Elkhound (50lb), and 2 Chinese Cresteds (5 & 10lbs)
They all get along fabulously together, and after the initial introductions and settling in period, I've never worried about them together, and actually can't imagine them apart.

I have friends whose twins girls are junior handlers. They're about 15 or 16 now, but they've been showing since they were around 12. They usually show bullmastiffs, but right now they're in Westminster in the Junior Handler class. One if showing a golden retriever; one is showing a springer spaniel (I think). The golden is a family pet, & seems to get along with all the other dogs just fine.

We have an ACD. They can take the wear and tear. Very smart, very durable. Very HYPER, if you want calm you won't find it here. Even though ours is deaf, she is usually the one to tell the big dogs to wake up and act like Fila's, there is something out there.

At one time, I had a PC, a Neo, and a Min Pin. The PC was the eldest of the pack and the leader. However, she tolerated
a lot from the Min Pin and was a surrogate to her. Min Pins are big dogs in a small package. They are fearless,
courageous, and very loving. They also form a strong bond. My mother got a Min Pin puppy years ago. She needed to
work an extra shift and didn't want to leave the puppy alone. I volunteered to babysit the pup for the weekend. He slept
on me the entire weekend...usually around my neck. To make a long story short, we had an intense bond. He loved my mom, but whenever I came over it was clear who he preferred. If I was holding him and someone tried to take him from me or pet him, it was a problem. He would allow petting and holding by others if he was not already in my arms. My
mother regretted having me babysit her new pup until the day he went to Rainbow Bridge.

Looking at the replies from other members brought back fond memories of breeds I adored as a youngster. Although I
still love these breeds, they are too much work for me (grooming)... the Saluki and the Afghan Hound. They're absolutely
stunning. Call me crazy, but I always felt like they were all "women" even though I know better. They remind me of
high fashion models doing their thing on a runway somewhere.

Not familiar with Sussex Spaniels, but Springers are lovely lovely dogs. I've heard a lot of good things about this breeder and "know" two dogs of their breeding: http://www.nanjay.com/SiteMap.htm

They are! My dad belong to a hunting club where there were a few owners of some. They just appear to have tons of energy where as the write up on the sussex (and I would never just take a write up as gospel ;) ) is more laid back, good with cats and kids and other dogs, and an energy level more like my corsi... laid back when I am and ready to go when I am.
