Kongs or other chew toys

What do you guys/gals do to take the plastic rubber smell off new toys. I have a bought Kong's and others. I have scrubbed, washed, boiled in boulon (<-spelling) and can't get that nasty rubber smell off of them. What have you guys done or is Juno just weird?

Donno, mine just ignore them when they're new, I just add them to the pile and eventually I notice them playing with them. Not sure if the smell wore off or they got used to it.

Ruger doesn't mind the smell, as a matter of fact he seems to like it...When the new (smell) wears off he retires it to the mound of "I already played with that" and waits until the next week to get himself a new one. We go to petsmart every Friday and he gets a new toy. LOL

Why remove the smell?

Juno sniffs the new toys and moves on. The common denominator is the smell, the rubbery smell.

Sounds about right....when the guy doing Arty's puppy transport came by to drop him off, he couldn't decide if he was amused or horrified by the "2nd coffee table covered in dog toys!!!" I was informed it actually didn't make it any better that the "2nd coffee table" was actually the giant dog bed that said giant dog refused to use (because he prefers to sleep on the REAL coffee table)....

Oscar doesn't play with or chew rubber toys. He's got a Kong that definitely has lost its "artificial" smell but he still won't touch it. We cycle through cow hooves and deer antlers with the ocassional rawhide (not too often 'cause he tends to puke up any pieces he chews off).

I've occasionally put some peanut butter inside the kong, and now regardless of if it's in there or not my dog loves playing with her kong. Her absolute favorite toy is a soccer ball that's half deflated though.
