Just saw a picture of a Presa Canario.

I'm currently looking into the Presa, after researching a bunch of breeds, i always come back to them.I want to learn more about them so i stumbled onto Sanders Facebook page, after reading about Sanders Kennels drug bust, and his somewhat bad reviews, i stumbled across a Dog named Nala he was giving away to a free home, seems she was done being bred. This is what i saw... Is this a distortion in the working breeds? Is this a desired trait?

Nice female none the less, just wanted to know a bit more about the Wide chests, seems common in the American bulldogs and Presa's. Especially the American bully mutts. Would this be considered an unhealthy amount of muscle, too wide chested? I can't see this dog sprinting down a field.

Not a bit of fat on her she'd probably run up and down a field all day dont think she's that fit looking lazing about... Hope she finds her forever home

I see, thanks. I personally like the look, but haven't seen it too often. I'm guessing it's just the individual dog, and how they are exercised, and muscle tone.

That dog has some serious structural issues such as being bow legged, and her proportions are way off. That is not just exercise and muscle tone. I hope she finds a good and loving home, but she is not a good representation of the breed.

Iymala what do you mean? Is this not healthy for the dog? I've seen a couple am bulldogs and Presa's with this stature, it doesn't look too good for the dog most breeders and working Presa's i've seen have wide but not overdone chests. My first thought was steroids.

I don't know anything about what sanders is doing with his dogs so I won't speak to that at all. what I will say is that dogs bred for a purpose have structure that emphasizes it's intended purpose without exaggeration. exaggeration in any form inhibits functionality. when it comes to physicality, I tend to stay away from any kind of exaggeration. if any is present, it had better be completely out weighed by some drastically redeeming quality. like I say, I don't know anything about this guy or his dogs, but I would very much doubt any kind of steroid use or anything like that. the dog is in decent shape. it's musculature is being thrown out of perspective by it's structure which is completely genetic. I don't see any significant muscle mass or tone on the dog. I see a wide chest and bow legs. both of which may give someone the impression of muscle, I just don't see it.

I would pass on it and I would pass on any of his other dogs/pups if that is a sample of what he is using for breeding. What other bad traits is he willing to breed?

I'm not a fan of Sanders, talked to a local breeder who wasn't the best, but was the one to tell me Sanders is a pretty bad breeder. I'm not anyone to judge neither do i want too, but seems like he's a joke too many working Presa breeders. The thing that turned me away was bad review(s), and his little drug bust. But anyway that's from what i've heard, so i'm not judging in any way... Zebo got pics of your pup?

I agree.

That dog looks malnutritioned to me. I'm not an expert on any breeds, but seeing all the ribs like that doesn't seem healthy.
