  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

I see you...

Thanks - she has filled in well and is extremely agile and fast. In these photos, the dogs were in pursuit of the resident squirrel who gives them a hard time.

The fence is over 6 feet tall except for the few inches that we notched out years ago to accomodate a tree we had. The bottom few inches have some areas that have rotted due to moisture - but the wood in general is very strong and there are no boards that are loose or unsecure - the bricks are just there to keep the patterdales from digging under.
That's good You know your yard better than anyone, no need for me to pester you. Lol where is sully in all this how come he missed the party.

wow a little contradicting from the first post to the second one.

that looks like an expensive behaviour lol
time for a new fence! The little ones look very keen to join in too!

irresponsible for any dog.
Id say that dog is not safely contained, and you are breaking the law right now.

But more importantly, you are risking having your Fila PTS! dont you want to keep it?

Wow! She is beautiful and I can't believe how big she has gotten!! Ruger jumps like that at cats and squirrels and can get pretty high but my biggest fear is his big ass will slam into it and rip the whole damn thing down. LOL

lol, Great pics as usual Girldogue... dont worry about the trolls, she obviously isnt getting over that fence and the only way someone is going to get bit through that fence is if they try to jump it or put their arms over it. you would think these folks have 20' concrete block fencing all around their property the way they talk.

If that dog does not posses enough athleticism to get over that low spot in that fence to get prey or a perceived threat, then it’s a sorry excuse for a Fila. If that is not family living on the other side of that fence it is irresponsible and puts everyone’s right to own this great breed in jeopardy. If you can afford to spend thousands importing a Fila you should first spend a few thousand on a proper fence. For anyone considering a Fila that will spend time outside that would be 6’ minimum, 8’ preferably X 1†thick planks attached with screws not nails. Contrary to what self described experts(scrubs) on here will tell you, store bought panels or planks are ½†and are not safe for containment of giant breed dogs. It doesn’t cost much more to do it right the first time. Owning this type of dog is a big responsibility, don’t ruin it for everyone.

I swear do people just come on here when they are bored to start shit? she didn't ask for anyone's opinion on her dog, fence, agility, etc. what is so hard to enjoy the cute pic, have a little laugh and MOVE ON!!! if anyone has problems, concerns, etc, private message someone! don't take over the post with crap that no one else wants to read!

I dont disagree really with ace in a broad spectrum kinda way. But I aint calling anyone out on points I dont know. I dont for see any reason Kona would ever jump a 6ft fence. Unless you were in my yard and running and you jumped the fence. And well thats your ass. I know my dog pretty damn well. I have seen what she can do, will do, and well, I know my dog. I can pretty well tell you exactly what she will do in a given situation long before it happens. I suspect others do as well. So not knowing ones dog, or how that dog acts, can act, or will act, not knowing the thickness of wood, length of screws, whats on the other side of the fence, who owns whats there, or any number of contributing factors, I dont see how I can make any kinda judgement.

As a general rule I agree with ace. But in general, general is only middle of the road

Why do people claim to be protecting the breed when they endanger it? Why do people publicly post their dog bit someone? Why do people sell dogs to people affiliated with dog fighting? Why are some people so ignorant they don’t realize we will not be able to legally own this breed some day soon? This breed was much better off 20 years ago when it was in the shadows. If my taking offense to you jeopardizing my right to responsibly own this breed offends you, SORRY.

When I saw a picture of a Fila tied up in the front yard of a subdivision the first thing I thought was there is a bite waiting to happen and these people have no idea what they are doing. But I didn't say a word. And what do you know, the dog bit someone. Who would have guessed? Does that bother you?

To some people this breed is a fad, or a way to make money. To some of us it is something very special, irreplacable matter of fact.

Chuck as someone with alot of fencing experience that appears to be 1/2 thick old untreated pine. You could punch that and go right thru it. There is roughly a foot missing at the top and a foot berm at the bottom so the height is around 4 ft at that spot. That dog should be able to go right over that.

Geez they have banned Big Gulps, they step on our constitutional rights every day. Do people really not think BSL is coming?

Well I take great strides to keep my dogs away from people. With 2 exceptions being my neighbor jeff and my nephew. Both of which we would like kona to know them as they are here alot. And neither of which is ever in a position where she can actually get them. I spent alot of cash to fence in a fully fenced yard and more cash to separate front from back ti guaranty the public never see's kona unless they are some place they should not be. I know jeff comes in at 6am every morning so the dogs cant be out then. I know the older folks go to church every sunday at 8am so they cant be out. I'm up out of my seat if kona barks to intervene if a neighbor or their dogs out just so she dont bother them barking. So I defiantly get what your saying. Theres just to many open ended questions.

I don't believe in leaving the dog unsupervised in the back yard at all. My friend had a shepherd, That I knew and trained since 8 weeks heck I even taught him how to walk on leash. He was best friends with my shepherd, me and my friend walked the dogs together everyday. One night they left the dog out and the next morning they couldn't find him; so they called SPCA and they said they found a shepherd dead by the highway. It turned out to be his dog. He got out that night, got hit by a car on the highway.
The fence does need some work in the third picture where it's broken the dogs paws are practically touching the top. We did politely make the suggestion and now it's up to the owner to fix it or not, there is nothing else we can do. I do agree that we don't know all the variables.

seriously!!!! I have owned this breed for 20yrs, have never bred a litter(don't care to, not enough good homes). I know what this breed is about and that is why I have it. I come here for entertainment, friendship, knowledge and to be able to discuss my breed with others who understand them and do not think I should put them to sleep because they are not "Lab" friendly. I do not come here to deal with judgemental bullshit by the same people over and over again. I posted my girl bit someone, because I needed some support! if I just wanted attention and to destroy MY breed I would have posted on facebook! get my point! if anyone has an issue, message me! I answer my messages. no reason to trash and question like a child those who have had this breed successfully for many, many years. commenting little reprimands and digs to life long fila owners is childish and looks bad to those who are new here. I say this, as I have gotten private messages regarding some of the tones certain members take when responding to posts. yes, my first reaction would have been a dog bite to that situation, of course it bothers me. when Maddie bit my neighbor, I was outside with her! girldogue is outside with her dogs! and yes, my Filas are very special to me! I understand your points, but could have been addressed in a totally different matter. hope I didn't ramble too much.
