Hi I am new to this form and I need some support. My Duke a 5 month old Cane Corse passed away yesterday. The horrible story beings on Thanksgiving. In the morning he was fine when I came down from showering he was limping on his right front leg. We brought him the next day to the emergency vet. They told us not to X-ray Bc they didn’t feel any broken bones so we took him home with anti-inflammatory and pain killers. He wakes out of emergency now limping on him back leg as well. Saturday wasn’t so bad he was still eating and drinking although I had to water bottle feed him and hand feed him. He had a hard time getting up. So by Monday he still wasn’t better. We took him to out vet. They did X-rays and said he had HOD. That there was nothing we can do just rest an pain management. Tuesday was the worst. He was crying even with the pain killers. I called the breeder and she told me like with 2 vets that there was nothing I can do just make him comfortable. We where up with him til 3 am Wednesday morning he had kept peeing an pooping on himself so we cleaned him. He was in so much pain he wouldn’t sleep. After trying everything he seemed to be a bit comfortable so we went to sleep. 715 am Wednesday my daughter came down to get ready for school and found his cold body with white stuff in his mouth and piss an poop on him. We have sent him to Cornell for an autopsy. Has this happened to anyone before. From what I have read dogs don’t die from this. I feel like I failed him my poor beautiful boy. Please help me heal.
