Hi! I will be getting my first Cane Corso in about 8 weeks, the pups were just born this morning, 13 of them!! I am super excited! My mother used to breed Mastiffs, so I am used to big dogs and excited to finally have one of my own! For the first month or so, I am going to have my mom "dog sit" while I am at work, then I will be off for the summer. Someone said this wasn't the best idea since then the puppy will listen to my mom and think of her as her master as opposed to me and my family. Any thoughts on this? I hate to leave the puppy alone during the day while I am at work and thought this was a good solution, plus she will be very socialized with people! Thanks for any insight!!

Welcome! new pup, How exciting. I don't think it will be an issue. It is good that he bond with the both of you in event that you need some help on occasion and much better for him to have someone around during the day when he is little like that. Can't wait to see photos. :)

Welcome to the board from another Cane Corso owner. I think having your mom watch your puppy is fine, he will bond with her but that doesn't mean he won't listen to you. It does mean that if you ever have to go somewhere that your dog will have someone he knows and trusts to look after him and you won't have to worry. Make sure you spend lots of time working on things with him like training and such and that will help strengthen your bond with him. Also make sure you and your mom agree on the same rules in each house otherwise you could end up with a brat on your hands when he comes home from grandma's house :)

You guys are so welcoming! Thank you!! I am so excited!! This is a photo of the pups! She had 13 in all!! It was an accidental breeding, the owner had the male neutered and he got to the female before the 30 days was up! The dad is a gorgeous blue!

Now to decide whether to get a male or female!

They are both corsos, I don't think that photo you can really see the coloring on the mom, she is the blue as well, just darker. As far as I know they are both purebred.

Although now that I look at it, it appears that the white spot should only be on the chest. I am going to double check with the breeder to be sure. The mom has a mastiff face for sure, but you are right, the coloring looks off.

It isn't an issue if it is a pet but just know that it appears something is in the mix more than the corso. I can see a pup maybe 2 being mis-marked but that appears off to me.

White on the bridge of the nose and such is generally fine as it goes away but the white on the rest of the dogs is suspect. Doesn't mean they aren't great dogs but if he is charging top price then just be aware.

Thanks for the heads up. It is definitely just a pet! They are giving the puppy to me, so it's really not a big deal at all! I just had my mom, who knows the breeder, text her just to ask, just out of curiosity. The dad is definitely a cane, but the markings on the mom are off. I am going to get a better photo of both mom and dad. It was an accidental breeding so maybe this is one of the dogs she doesn't breed. The neutered the dad, but he got to the mom before the 30 days were up. I guess they miscalculated!! I don't mind, I am just happy to get a puppy :)

The mother also has a white nose, which would also make me question the purity of the Corso. Like Mary said, the dogs might be great dogs, but if they are charging for a full blooded papered Corso, I would ask some more questions.

Thanks!! I am excited! I've never not had a dog until I moved out and my apartment has strict no animals! We just bought a house with a nice big fenced in backyard, my first thought was now I can finally get my dog, lol, I miss having a dog around!
