HELP !! Losing my mind trying to decide on a dog food !!!!

Hi, I have posted here before but cant seem to find the thread :( I apologize for repeating myself. I have a 12 week old puppy Eng/Neo Mastiff and American Bulldog. I have done a ton of research here and online. I understand the guide lines for the protein, calcium and phosphorous percentages. Rosie came to us on Wysong Adult synorgon. After LOTS AND LOTS of research and reading posts on message boards I decided on Earthborn meadow feast. We ordered it and when it arrived I googled how to switch over to new food and found a thread which was from the past 2 mos up until current date saying that their dogs were getting sick from this food and that the company acknowledged that there is issue with the food. So I was afraid to give that to her. I might also add that prior to getting the Earthborn I went to petco to get the "science diet" my vet recommended, but was strong discouraged not to use that. They sold me Whole Earth Farms. I dont even remember what I read about that, that made me unsure if it was a good choice. So after reading the thread on earthborn I went to a local vendor and she sold me Fromm. But didn't know the Cal/phos percentages, So I googled it when I got home and they seem to higher than recommended :( So now I have the new bag of Wysong I bought to have enough to transition to her to new food AND.... an unopened bag of Earthborn, Whole earth farms and Fromm !!!! What do I do which do I return, which do I keep???? This is crazy I feel like I am putting more thought into what my puppy eats that I do for my entire family !!!Thanks in advance, Kim

Don't stress! I would keep a bag of what you are transitioning to and the bag you are on. Do a slow transition to the new food. I do 1/4 new food and 3/4 old food for a couple days then half and half and then 3/4 1/4...it's not something to go crazy about. I personally feed earthborn but I've been thru a few foods to get there. Most mastiffs do well on grain and chicken free food...but you just find something that works for you and your pup!

Thanks :D My dilemma was choosing which food to keep. But I found more specific info on Fromm and I think that will be the one we try, the percentages are in the right range... Hope she like it !!!!

Yep - you may be overthinking it! Each of those foods you brought home are on the "good" list. :)

I'm also VERY glad you did NOT get the Science Diet... they over-processes the bejeezus out of their ingredients... then have to add in all sorts of synthetic stuff to "balance" out the nutrients. While many dogs do fine on it for a while... I don't consider it a good long-term option.

If I had to pick one... I'd go with the one with the lowest calcium.... but anything 1.8% and under is really good.

i am using TOTW no problem.. do not panic about food you are going to create a finicky eater. a little bit of deviation on percentages is not going to hurt anybody... so just chose any decent dry food it will be ok. after your dog gets used to his dry food and likes it then you can start giving him dry food in the morning and raw meat at nigh ( if you are on twice a day feeding schedule). i feed my pups 3 times until they are 8 months old...the last meal of the day is raw.
