Morning,
I have a bit of a strange situation I was hoping you might be able to help me with. I volunteer for a non-profit that supports our military by helping them find temp housing for their pets when they don't have any other options for care. I was hoping you might consider housing a dog for a soldier while she is deployed. Izzy is a mastiff /lab mix currently fostered in Washington State.
She has been in foster care for about 4 months. The existing foster is having some family medical issue's and can no longer foster Izzy. She has some behavioral and medical issue's that have made it impossible to find her an new foster home. I need someone that can find her a nice secure place to live until her mom gets back in 8 months. Izzy can be very sweet but she has separation anxiety that has been getting progressively worse. Not aggression it's mostly destructive behavior, peeing in the house after adequate exercise and attention etc. She cannot be crated because she chews thru them. She came to us with a bad knee and in the course of the past couple of months injured the 2nd knee. The foster has gotten her healthy and she seems to be doing fine with pain meds on an as needed basis. Because of her injury's she tends to get defensive with other animals try to play. She was socialized as a puppy and lived with a German Sheppard mix in the past with no problems.
She was put in a separate foster home then her canine brother and her owner had to leave at the same time. She just hasn’t been able to be happy or settle without them.
I've exhausted all my options and I am now searching for a kennel / sanctuary type setting where she might be able to live outside with a safe heated shelter until her mom gets back.
Without a new place to live she will end up in the rescue system and I will have failed her and her owner.
I know this is not what you do or you might not have the room but I was hoping you might be able to help or point me in a new direction.
Please contact me asap if you can help or have any suggestions. She is running out of time.
