Heart is Now Completely Melted; Their Memories Really ARE Great!

So, I thought I loved my dog before. Still, I've been really nervous about him, and whether or not I was taking care of him as well as I could, and whether or not I was his "person".

I need not wonder about these things anymore.

I went away for four days for a little vacation. I was a little worried about him, because since we've gotten him I hadn't been gone for more than a few hours at a time. And I was very concerned that I hadn't spent enough time with him before this trip for us to bond, and was hoping he wouldn't forget me by the time I got home.

Apparently, he'd been moping when I called home. He was lying in front of the gate preventing him from going into the sitting room, staring forlornly at the door. I told my roommate to put the phone to his ear, and I said, "Hi, Taurus! It's Mommy! How is my boy?" Evidently, the previously-calm dog started wagging his tail like mad and tried to eat the phone. He then started bouncing all over the house, to my roommate's dismay. (Hehheh. Her aggravation amuses me. But that's because I'm mean.)

When we got home, we opened the front door and I very softly called, "Pup-pup!" which is how I alert him that I'm there in such a way that he won't be woken up if the sweetie is asleep, but he knows that it's me if he hears. Not a bark, not a yip, nothing. Just a happy puppy trotting to the gate, standing on it, his whole rear end wagging, licking my face and then standing up to give me hugs as I came into the house. Later, I found out that he'd been moping most of the time, sitting in front of the gate and staring at the front door whenever it was "time" for us to come back, just waiting.

He'd missed me! He remembered me! The silly boy wouldn't leave my side for three hours.

If I wasn't besotted with my dog before (and while on the trip I showed anyone who would sit still long enough pictures of him), I am now. :D

I have noticed that my fila does not forget, especially when it comes to people. That is a heart-warming story. I am happy for you :)

I totally thought he would forget me because it was the first time I'd gone away with Daddy for a little vacation. He didn't! I was so happy! He's such a good boy! ^_^

Ditto - I never get the wags from Boone over the weekend that I do weekdays, when I come home from work :)
