Hello All!
I'm a new member to the forum. I'm a proud owner of a year and half old female Dogue de Bordeaux named Miel. I grew up with Irish Wolfhounds but always loved the Molosser breeds. I joined the forum because I love Molossers and also wanted to see if there's any members that do schutzhund with their Molossers.

Welcome to the board ;~) Just a hint we love pics. I don't know if there is anyone doing Protection sports with their molossers on here but if you are would love to see pics of it.

Hi and welcome.
I know Lisa R worked her Corso in French Ring, she is on the forum I believe.
Love pictures! I have a soft spot for DDB's.

Hey all,

Thanks for the warm welcome! I will attach my pics of Miel tonight! Also, if any of you guys have a dogue, especially a female, I have question for you guys. Is your dogue affectionate? Miel is my first dogue and she doesn't share a major trait of the breed, which is, according to raymond Triquet, an extremely affectionate dogue. I wonder if it's due to her not spayed? I will be getting her spayed next month though. Here's some stats for you guys. She's a year and four months; spends most of the day with us, only separated when I'm at work (teacher; only 8 hrs.); I walk her and we play daily; she's obedient trained ( it took a lot of work, very stubburn dogue). Thanks!

I have a Female DDB and she's affectionate, but you have to go to her usually to get. Occasionally she will nudge you if she wants some attention, but usually she's a loner, but perfectly content. However, if you go to her and want to cuddle or scratch her belly, she is all for it. My Presa and her play a lot and lay together, best friends. She was extremely shy and skittish when we got her at 9 weeks, she has come a long way since then. She will engage in play, but seldom with toys, usually pretty rough growling and running around. hope you enjoy your Dogue!

Thanks PresaDogue. Miel is the same way. I half to go to her. She hangs out by my side and when I go to her she lays down and lets me pet her belly. But rarely comes to me; not like my American Bulldog. She also loves to play. She loves tug, all types of toys, plays fetch, and sick 'em. She was also very skittish to sounds when she was younger. I bought this dogue book and it gave me all these timelines when dogues experience fearful stages and I was cognizant of this while she was a puppy and followed it to a tee. I think it actually made her more skittish. She's a lot better and doesn't freak out so much to loud noises. I purposely drop dishes and pots which has helped out a lot. As far as gaurding, she's awesome! I bought a sleeve and play sick 'em with her and my buddy; she loves to hit the bad guy.
