I am writing this now, as later today I will be a wreck.
We are saying goodbye to our beloved almost 9 year old Boxer Joe today.
Joe has been our holy terror through out his life, a boundless bundle of energy and humor.
We got him while I was pregnant with our son, so no... he wasn't the best trained dog out there, but has always had the best nature anyone could ask for. In Joe's mind no one, human or animal, was a stranger or didn't love him. Yet he was very protective of our son from the minute he came home from the hospital. If we were out and had a babysitter Joe would love them, happily play with them, but if they tried to go into Massimo's room while he was asleep, Joe would stand in the doorway blocking.
Mass learned to stand using Joe as his support, Joey was also the first word he said...
My heart is breaking as I write this...
In the past few months Joe has progressively gone down hill succumbing to cushings and cancer.
He is no longer well enough that I can justify keeping him in his condition.
Joe is not a dog who will ever give up, so we have made the decision to let him go in peace.
Our appointment is this afternoon, the kids have said their goodbyes and thank you's.
I will miss you Joey Boxer, R.I.P.
