Glaucoma ???

Ok... so, I think I have figured out the issue with Jenny's eye.

I posted pics a few days ago of her eye, and no one could seem to figure it out

I asked a few friends that are vet techs and such.... the general consensius is she has glaucoma in her eye.

I added another pic of her ...poor girl... now its just a matter of waiting to get into the vet.

Well.... it was an issue that was known from the time we got her. We paid $200 for her compared to her siblings that were $1200. ( we actually should have got her for free )
Looking back on the situation.... they are scetchy breeders.... the father to this litter has Lupis (spelling?) and they still bread him.... infact, this is his 2nd litter. That should have been a red flag but we didn't think about it.

Anyhow.... like I said, it was a known condition.... BUT... they never said it was glaucoma, they said it was an "enlarged retina" according to their vet. "She can see out of it, it doesnt hurt her, blah blah blah" ......is what was said to us. So we believed that we would just have to watch it and make sure that it doesnt get any worse or anything. They told us their vet said to have her put down.... because she would make the little "look bad" .....

They told us there would be no gaurantee with the puppy.... basically "AS IS" so our hands are tied.

Im leaving for the vet in approx 20 minutes from the time im writing this message..... just waiiting for the gf to show up with our little baby !!!

That is right, sorry I remember your post :(
I hope it will be okay.
Let us know when you get back from the vet.
Unfortunately there are way too many sketchy breeders out there.

welp.... We will be the proud owner of a one eyed EM !!! took her to the vet today and he didnt even look twice and told us the eye needs to come out. He didnt do any tests or anything because he said it would be a waste of our money ! He inspected her other eye to make sure it was ok and it was fine !
This vet is the vet the breeder uses. He remembered our Jenny from when she was just small.... he said the eye has gotten alot worse, thats why he didnt bother with any tests because he knew what needed to happen !
I was considering taking her for a second opinion.... but we figure why bother.... We need to get the eye removed and thats the bottom line! He said he would do the operation for $400. That sounds pretty reasonable, and by reasonable... i mean, ALOT cheaper then I thought it was going to cost me !

Jenny did so well with her first visit... calm, didnt freak out at all.... even when it came time to take her temperature... ;) hahah

Wow... I guess it's not the end of the world and hopefully Jenny will make a full and quick recovery! So sad that it had to come to that though.
Shame on that breeder!

At least she's still young so she should have no trouble adjusting to compensate for the missing eye. What a shoddy breeder!

thanks for letting us know.
Scary, but she will adapt fast and be good as new. Glad to hear that the other eye will be fine.
I would call the breeder out for lying and saying that it would be okay and the vet said nothing was wrong :(
When is the surgery or did they already perform it?

So very sorry! Shame on that breeder! That is awful! Did you happen to ask the vet, if he recommended putting the dog down to the breeder as they said he said. I wonder if he really said that???

I will be sending prayers your way that the surgery goes smoothly with no complications. I'm glad she has y'all for owners. I hate that her breeders were/are so irresponsible. Please keep us posted on her progress.

Thanks everyone !!!!! Jenny seems to be taking all this in stride..... Shes as playful as ever.... and smart as heck to boot ! I hope everything goes well with this surgery.... we are waiting 2 more weeks till shes AT LEAST 12 weeks old.... it was her 10 week birthday yesterday!

As far as the breeders go.... Im not going to even bother saying anything to them. I have already taken back the good words I said to friends that were thinking about going to look at the pups they had left. I once suggested them, now I will deter anyone I know from going there.
I have another question... but I will ask it in a seperate post.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and concerne ! This forum is awesome !!!
