Food confusion!

We tried Instinct chicken kibble with Gronk and he developed dandruff, itched a lot and STUNK! Based on what I've read, I question issues with tapioca (which is in the blue wilderness formula listed earlier. Wish it wasn't, that looks LOVELY,)

We feed our dogs (1 year old FM/IM mix and 2 yr old Lab/dane mix) NutroSource. They really seem to love it. We also give our FM/IM Satan Balls (I cant remember the exact recipe off hand but it is raw ground beef, eggs shell and all, total cereal, molasses and a couple other things, the recipe can be googled) which have really helped with the growth and the over all heath of really both our dogs as we will give the FM/IM 3-4 8 oz balls every week and the other 1-2 around the same time so he doesnt get jealous...something to consider. Hope it helps!

So it time to pick up our pup. I revisited the links and a little lost of the ratios.

Protein: 25% Minimum, Fat: 15% Minimum
Calcium: 1.6%, as-fed; Phosphorus: 1.0%, as-fed

Would this be safe for a mastiff Pup

The main thing that worrys me about kibble is an open bag can last over a mth that's without how long it's been on the shop self
Most foods I know if left that long would go bad so it's a bit worrying what they do to it or put in it for it to last that long

So no dry food?

The feed store we go to seems to go throw food fairly quick.

Do the numbers I listed look good for a puppy?

To be honest Swif I wouldn't have a clue , our pup was fed a raw diet from 8 weeks and our rescue girl we have had for 3 weeks went straight on it , she had bad spots/rash round her mouth which is now clearing up nicely , have fed kibble mixed with raw in the past and when decided to get a pup did a lot of research in to the raw diet and decided it was the best way for me and my dog
Not for every one but don't think I would ever go back to kibble

For what it's worth, I have Gertie on Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain Grain free All Life Cycle. She is doing well on it and, at almost 8 months, weighs in at around 85 lbs.
Can anyone recommend an adult dogfood? Would you supplement with something for joints?

I really like the large breed puppy by Orijen, my boerboel does really well on it 14 1/2 months). The calcium and phosphorus are right where they need to be. I will be switching to adult dog food soon and will def stay with Orijen. It is on the expensive side so if you can afford it, it will be one of the best if not the best food (aside from raw) you could feed your dog. I put a link below so you can take a look for yourself.

Pick a food (kibble or raw) and stick with it. You're thinking too much with all these ratios etc.

I've been feeding Solo Taste of the Wild since the day I brought him home. No puppy food. Straight to adult. No issues.

I'd also say, don't try mixing raw and kibble or add anything to your kibble if that's the route you go. Too many people complain about their dog being "picky eaters"....humans create picky eaters by catering to their "fur babbies".

Not to mentions the two different foods digest at different rates, which can cause issues.
I'm not against raw...I choose good quality kibble cause it works for me, my dog and my lifestyle.

Been feeding Rosco Canidae Grain Free Pure Land for 9 months. Rosco is now 110 lbs at 12 months old. a skinny 110 lbs, but heathy.

I was looking at supplements but also looking at other dog foods like Orijen and Now Fresh.

Looking at Orijien regional red I am not sure if 38% protein is too high. Compared to 25%.

Orjien is an amazing food, you can't go wrong with it.
