Female after heat

Someone at the vet was telling me that her female grew nice and slow but then when she had her first heat which wasn't til a year she really not so much put on weight but she just looked bigger widened up.
Has anyone else had that happen female just seemed I guess to really mature after heat.

Bailey remained puppy-ish until this last month, so four months post heat, but this last month she has "sproinged" again, gaining height, length, and her head has started thickening up. She developed extra rolls of skin at neck and tail which will have to go somewhere, so....

Now, I look at my girl and I see her narrow waist and her long, lanky, powerful body...she's not a puppy really any more. She's a femme fatale.
