My English is 8 1/2 years old now. He has lived his whole life in the California and Arizona desert but he is an inside dog. Concrete and asphalt are not ok for a good 4/5 months out of the year. The breed loves their family and wants to be a big part of it , are intelligent and emotional. If I scold him for anything he gives me shame eyes and pouts haha. He loves the outdoors and thankfully we live next to a river and have a pool for him to cool off in the hot months which get to 120f . He is a great road dog! Loves to travel, hike , swim, loves the snow and camping. One thing is he does get worn out and you can’t walk them that much as a puppy. They grow very rapidly and it could cause problems if you over exert them. I want to say 1 mile max until they are a year old. Once they are fully grown they will go a lot further.
One would totally fit in a rav 4 either sit the passenger seat pushed all the way back or dedicate the back row to them but they always want to be around their people so riding in the back might not be an option
if you socialize and start training the second you get them it is the best but that’s with any large breed. Especially when walking and being around other people, never let them lead or jump the are very muscular and powerful when full grown. They do not know how big or rough they are so you have to remind them from time to time.plus they think they are lap dogs…. I take Mine to family
BBQs but again you they don’t know how big they are and will lift a table up while trying to be sneaky and grab fallen food.. the older they get the lazier they get. Honestly perfect office dog but some might get scared of the size.
My Mastiff gets along with little dogs more than the larger ones besides his Irish wolfhound sister. Dog parks are sometimes stressful because he is not fixed and is usually the biggest dog there so all other males who aren’t used to dog parks flock towards him and try to assert dominance. I couldn’t take him when I was pregnant ( he was really Protective) but I think he was a freak hyper mastif, I have a friend who grew up with them and he was amazed how high strung my Gozer was. Anyhow him and my 10 year old are almost exactly 2 years apart and are best buddies. He was great with the baby and All the
Kids love him . All 4 of them lay on him as a pillow if they are sick or have had a bad day . Best dog ever
