dutchess is going in the kennel

Hi all,

I have a 3mos old English mastiff and she is great. Very lovable and sweet. I was having a problem with her potty training but finally she got it. I have a new problem with her now. She is potty'n in her kennel :( she never used to do this before. It has started when she learned not to potty in the house. She is usually not in her kennel at all except for bed time. I used to put blankets or a pillow in her kennel but I stopped doing that because of the pee'n. She still goes. I am going to take water away before bed but I don't know how long before. Does anybody have any suggestions what I should do?????
Thank you!!

I had the same issue with Byrdie, and some very wise people (on the forum)advised that her kennel was to big.
Sooo i had my husband cut peice if plywood to make her kennel smaller, leaving her only enough room to lay down.
Never had another issue. Be patient she will come along. Stop water 2 hours before Bed. Make sure she goes outside
just before bed, and is out as soon as she is up in the morning. I also did alot of laundry during this time...

Thank you shea! I too am doing a lot of laundry. I did have her in a smaller kennel and she was going in there too but I did have blankets and pillows for het to lay in. I will definately give that a try again without all the extra luxuries, lol. Thank you about the water time to. I am good about letting her out right away and before bed. I also have a choc lab that is 6 so apparently I have forgotten how long it takes. Lol, thank you again!!!!

you may try feeding in her kennel as well as sleeping dogs are usually less likley to pee and poops where they sleep and eat. That or she may be having some seperation anxiety and that is how she is showing it. Does she go into her kennel freely whenever she wants or do you have to tell her to go in it and such?
