Since I found Gaston.I have been fascinated by the history of the Boerboel.
I know that the VoC (the Dutch East Indian Company) first took dogs to South Africa. And through a history you all know ended up with the best dogs ever.

I get on an information kick and see how far I can follow, So far I am learning not only about the Boerboul but the spice trade, The tulip wars and the Diamond trade through South Africa., Fascinating stuff.

Anyway. I was watching a three part documentary on the VoC. It is a subtitled video with Art from the 16th century.
I was taken by all the dogs in the art work. As I watch the video. I began to really enjoy the dogs. I bet 99% of the people that look at the artwork don't notice the dogs in every day life.

this is part one .Dutch East Indies 1602-1949 Part I

Pretty cool stuff. I love history, and it's crazy to think that tiny countries like The Netherlands and Portugal were such strong players in the world back in those days.
