Does my CC have a fever

Our boy seemed a bit off today and we noticed that his ears seemed pretty warm/hot to the touch. Never felt this before. He ran and played with the soccer ball like normal, but was breathing heavily after 20 min of moderate playtime in the yard. The temperature today was around 60F with a little rain and drizzle, very humid. We didn't find any ticks on him, so not sure what the deal is. He also ate his dinner like normal. Maybe it's nothing, just want to be sure he'll be ok through the night, I will take him to the vet tomorrow. Are there any obvious signs or easily identifiable symptoms of fever coming on. Anyone else experience something like this before? (Don't have thermometer for him, will purchase tomorrow).

Check inside his ears. Are they red, any discharge or odor? Usually, when our dogs ears are warm it is an ear infection or even just dirty ears.

We checked his ears...no problems there. Found a themometer...had normal temp. He was fine today...running, playing and being silly. I guess we were paranoid...;0). Most important thing...our boy is ok!
