distructive English Mastiff

Hi everyone, my English Mastiff has started to do some damage in our home. His 9 months now and last week he started to bite the wall corners and the wood trim on the bottom. I just went upstairs to do a couple of things and heard this loud scraping noise and went down stairs and saw the damage. I yelled at him and told him no, he has since done another corner wall. It's not like he doesn't have any chew toys. I buy him a toy every time I get his dog food, and it's not like he's left alone for hours on end. Not sure what to do and why he's doing this. I still love him anyway and the damage is fixable, just don't want him to continue to distroy the home. Any advise on what to do ?? Thanks in advance.

Yes my girls have done the same, say no ,give a toy, and repair. I cant complain much 1 phone my favorite under armor running shoes some socks a couple shirts and the drywall in the room they sleep in. I am not including the plants they bring inside the house etc. Big dogs cost big money.

they seem to go through wood stages, all my mastiffs have done this. My one male EM chewed the wood handle bars right off my dads wheelbarrow. They all grew out of it, just have to monitor them or keep them crated when you are not around.

One trick I learned is to keep most of the toys put up and only a few out at a time. Then constantly rotate them ina nd out of the toy box so that your pup doesn't get bored with a toy. Also if wood seems to be their thing, you can grab a wooden dowel rod from Lowes for about $1 and let them chew it to shreds.

A pile of firewood in the backyard worked for my dog. Having issues with puppy trying to drag the wood in the house but that is minor.

typical puppy stuff...mine drags firewood inside all the time and she's 8 yrs old!!!but she doesn't chew on furniture...try getting him used of a crate...obviously you aren't going to keep him in there all the time but at least when you can't keep an eye on him, until he matures, my rotti chewed my kitchen table to shreds years ago until he was year old
