Glad she's home and all went well. The little guy sitting next to the crate looks so concerned. They must be good friends.

Talked with the vet today and she gave an overall clean bill of health. Spay went well and she was a trooper being under for 2.5 hrs! Something the dr was very apprehensive about. We had a list and put in order of importance but everything got done:) as far as her chronic conditions(skin mostly) she feels they are minimal but will most likely just need to be managed. When you've lacked any type of healthcare for so long it will be difficult to eliminate them all. As for X-rays her knees have moderate arthritis and her hips do not look bad(not perfect but she is 6 yrs old). She cannot extend her back legs which will usually indicate bad hips but the X-rays do not support that. They only caught a small portion of her spine with the hips but it appears she may have spondylosis deformans but would need better X-rays of the spine to be certain. Her 2 granuloma tumors on her ears are removed and I forgot to ask about what they looked like:/ dr seems confident that the lump removed behind her ear was a cyst so I will not get all of them removed as she has them all over. She is not eating as well as I'd like and is sleeping more today. I hope tomorrow she feels better enough to eat(and keep her mama from freaking out). Lol thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers:) I am so grateful for this forum. I am very hopeful that her past life will be a distant memory, soon forgotten, and replaced with nothing but love and adoration with us****

Her ride home. Not sure if anyone remember the profile with her tumors but it definitely looks weird to not see them.

She is such a pretty girl! Very happy to hear that she gets an all clear. I have used Phycox, a supplement for joint support.

Copy and paste that at Amazon. Read the reviews, see if it is something that might help her. You might try coconut oil for her nose. Plus, all my dogs have loved the taste of it. You could try putting it on her meds or food when she is not eating. Cane was very picky but he couldn't resist anything with coconut oil on it. There are some threads here about the benefits of coconut oil, they are numerous.

Big hugs to Chica

So she is lethargic with a swollen abdomen:( on cephalexin(sp?) and tramodol. Not eating well and having trouble giving her the meds with her lack of appetite. Incisions look good, still goes outside to potty, drinking well and greets me at the door and follows me some. I will wait 24 hrs but I'm really scared if you have any experience or knowledge please do share. I need it!

After surgery, I don't suppose many beings are eating a lot or bouncing around...and probably that's better for one. For the meds, if they are pills, I suggest softening up some cheddar and making a pill cheese ball that you toss. They tend to gulp it down without sniffing or chewing.

I used coconut oil to give Kryten his pills even when he was refusing to eat after his surgery. The pills slide right down their throat.
Hope she feels better soon.

She ate 8 oz, drank a fair amount of water and took her antibiotic this morning, I'm hoping it will be a good day thanks for all the advice and support.
And I will have to try the coconut oil tricks, though she is so damn picky I will be surprised if she doesn't turn her nose up. Lol and she even refused the cheese pocket I made last night, usually a no brainier for giving her pills. She has been on an antibiotic since the day after she came home and is constantly switching up her taste I read somewhere that neglected rescues can often be picky eaters, I am going to check into that more just out of curiosity. Weird!

Being a picky eater when a rescue, is usually due to trust issues. also antibiotics can cause nausa. Hang in there, sometimes hand feeding helps.

Interesting, but makes sense.
I've made an appointment for her just to ease my mind as we go into the weekend.

The tramadol will make her sleepy and the cephalexin can be hard on their tummys (Jake's been on both). I ended up having to use hot dogs to give him his pills, he became a master at finding them in yogurt, cooked veggies basically anything I could think of to hide them in and then he'd at spit them out.

She has a bit of swelling in her abdomen so decided to put her on an anti inflammatory for the week. Other than that all looks good(just a paranoid mommy). I think I found a treat she cannot resist, turkey tails! I cut a slit and poke them in:)

Also...found with previous dogs and cheese with pills hiding inside, I found that when I tossed them rather than handed them...they gulped them down without thinking, tasting or finding them.
