Hello People...
so my CC had Cherry Eye surgery last Friday...how long is it supposed to be swollen/red?!?! It has been a week and a day and the third eyelid is still swollen. Not like Cherry eye was before but smaller. It actually looks a little white...no puss/discharge but will the eye ever go back to normal? I mean it still looks better than it did before but not 100%. How long is the total recovery time...Got ointment from vet but didnt get any antibiotics (pill form) Just want to make sure that nothing is wrong. Gosh it has been one thing after another!!! Gotta love them...:razzberry::pray:

I know we've got some folks who've dealt with cherry eye, but I guess they've not been through in the last bit....if you're still concerned though I'd definetly check with the vet. Its not worth guessing when their eyes are at risk.

Thanks.. The swelling keeps going down but I am still not completely happy with how it looks. Friday will be two weeks since surgery! Thank you Ruth!

If nothing else phone call to the vet to confirm if 'still swollen' is within normal isn,t a bad idea. Welcome, hope she's ok! I've never dealt with cherry eye so I can't help much beyond that.....

Tacking I haven't heard great things about but I don't know how many vets are still doing removals and sometimes you have to travel quite far to find one.

my dog had an cherry eye operation, actually 2 because it popped up again.
I was also concerned about the swolling and talked to the vet, he told me the stitches can be seen and if there is no rednes/pus I don't need to worry. The stitches will disappear with time but the eye should not be irritated or red after the first 2 weeks.

And I only got some eyedrops from the vet to use the first 7-10 days.

My mom's corso had cherry eye surgery. She had removal, not tacking. We had not heard good things about the tack being a lasting solution to the problem. I can't remember how long her eye stayed irritated. I would definitely call the vet and get their opinion.
