IMG1501.jpgIMG1464.jpgIMG1463.jpgLuke is now 4 1/2 moth old and I was curious if any of you can see any Fila in his appearance? His dad could be an EM or a Fila, but have assumed it is the Fila due to his markings. Temperament he is a social butterfly, loves people and animals, but he is still young so I assume that can change.

I seem to vaguely remember when you first got him. This is tough. His ear set to me says EM. But with my untrained eye, I see a little bit of Fila in his head. Not completely sure though...

Laura, the female was a brindle EM, the males, an fawn EM and a "fawn" Fila. Accidental breeding, separated from the males while in heat but broke out and got to the males while owner was at work [12 hr shifts] and the stay home wife was out of town. They know the EM got to her but never saw her with the Fila.

I have tons of pic's. He is slim, tall and "lanky".IMG1457.jpgIMG1512.jpgIMG1497.jpg Have only seen him briefly trot "in camel gait" twice, [been focused on his "bunnyhop" more].

I have a Great Mastiff, lol. was starting to think Greyhound as slim as he is, lol. If I had not seen the males and the female, and the way their yard was secured ,no way another male made it in there, or she got out, but then who knows. Out of a litter of 14 Luke was the only one with that much white, and white on the face, the rest was fawn or brindle. But in the end it does not matter what mix he is, he is a great dog!

This is a great post. I think a lot of us get caught up with how things should be, how they are perceived, or how we want them to be and forget the dog is here to serve a purpose. That dog just by being dark and brindle, and appears he will be fairly large will defend your home by his mere presence alone. And if he is a good dog/good pet then that is the bonus plan. I am all for registries and being correct and standards and subjective value, as much as the next guy/gal, but at the end of the day I want a good dog. And if I deem that dog a good dog and he does not fit what others has perceived so be it.
he may not be the next guys great dog but as long as he is your great dog, that is all that matters. S

Lots of people are anal about what a dog should be. I am more along the lines of as long as he serves his purpose or a purpose I am pleased. I like it when the people part is more honest. Like this is what he is and this is what I want him for and that is what he does. That is as great a relationship as one can have with a dog.
My beagles hunt, jump and run. If they do not do that they do not live here. On the flipside my wife is a property manager and some ass left an Australian Shephard that was about 6 weeks old on a chain, in July, with no water and no food. Guess who owns her now? She is neurotic. Barks, chases and bites every leaf that falls from the trees. Every leaf that has nerve enough to fall in our back yard. Every rain drop that falls she snaps it on the way down. In a heavy downpour I think she might drown. Same with snow flakes. If she approaches you she is fine. If you approach her she squats and pisses. Her life mission is to bring anything floating out of the pond. She is a great little dog but not a good representation of the breed. She is happy as hell in her own little world. Great little dog but not a great Australian Shephard. S
