Congrats on your baby :)
As she was young when you got her make sure to get her in puppy class ASAP for puppy socialization. :D
As long as she is healthy I wouldn't worry about her weight, they are genetically predisposed to reach the weight they will. With good food and care she will do just fine. You can't compare dogs as lines grow different.
My 2 year old CC was 88lbs and 22inches at 8 months when I got her, now she is 23 3/4 inches and 90.3 lbs, while our pup is 6.5 months 74lbs and 24.5 inches, both are kept lean. Depends on the dog :D
As for the troll, I have nothing against truth and honesty, and maybe you did not get the pup in the best fashion, but you are here to learn. Being insulted and called names is just going to alienate. There are a lot of very helpful ppl on this board, so don't let the one bad apple spoil your experience.
Good luck with your pup and can't wait to see your pictures.

Again why would it be ok for the woodster to insult me but I can't insult him??? You just wait everyone will love me when I dress my pup in sunglasses and a bow tie!

"I completely agree and while the admins might not wish to censor anyone I hope anyone who reads posts by Bantu takes nothing he/she says to heart as I don't think some who believes their opinions and ways of doing anything are the only way, is worth the time it takes to read the posts."

^^^^That's precisely what I do.

Cute puppy Woody! I want a brindle EM some day myself.

So now you are the hapless victim? You came onto this thread slinging insults then get hurt when someone strikes back?
Poor poor Bantu...
It seems you have alienated your self on this forum. People are tired of your insults and jabs when you offer nothing of any use with the vast knowledge that you claim to have.
Here is the time, either contribute something of use or crawl back to your hole.
I have asked you this before, who are you Bantu and lets see your dog/s.
Or will you just try to deflect these questions again and continue to be an internet coward hiding behind a screen name?

Lol I'm not saying I'm a victim and I admit to being quite the opposite. But you can't cry foul if you yourself are throwing insults. Or when someone else throws insults first and I respond in kind. That's just showing that you have a bias already.
As far as who i am well I don't think anyone else is laying out they're life story. And I will not post pictures of my 3 legged rescue just so he can be mocked.

Wait just a sec... I think the Gravy train and popcorn thread speaks loud enough, people. Giggle. Your vast experience and dog knowledge is astounding. Dress 'em up, Bantu! Do it! I think that would be hilarious! Don't go anywhere, Bantu... we NEED you! I actually can't wait until we all rate nicknames, like the woodster. ;)

You think that a Mastiff forum will mock you for rescuing a three legged dog? That's messed up. I'm pretty sure the dog lovers here would applaud you. I certainly would.

When I was a kid, I had a troll with blue hair and a blue gem on it's belly. Theory is if you rubbed the gem, you made a wish, blah blah blah.
I wonder what color hair this troll has

Hi;

Just my opinion here, but….. while picking up a puppy at a trade fair isn’t ideal, neither is leaving a puppy with someone that is willing to sell if at 6 weeks. I have bought a puppy at a farmer’s market in the past. Was it the right thing to do? Probably not. Was she a loved and treasured family member for many years? Yes.

Congratulations on your new addition. Sadie is adorable!!!

You get slammed for going either way in those situations. I personally would buy the puppy to get him out of the situation. Is it right putting money in the scumbags wallet so they can just go do it again? No. But that's life. And that is exactly what I did with Topaz. She was involved in a severe animal hoarding situation on the reservation north of us, and there was no way I was leaving without her. She could have had 3 eyes and 6 legs and I still would have paid to get her out of there. But I also am a huge believer in rescuing when you can, and buying from a reputable breeder if you are looking for a specific breed. There are rescues out there that like to make it almost impossible for someone to adopt, so it is pushing more people to go anywhere else too.

And getting back to the whole meaning of this thread: Sadie is very cute!

Welcome! You have a beautiful pup! I have a female bullmastiff as well! She is ten months old and red with a black mask. Like they all said, ignore the Troll. Maybe if we don't respond to them they will go away....maybe they could join that other mastiff forum someone was talking about the other day. The attacking style of the posts sounds more their flavor.

I would like to remind everyone that there IS an "Ignore" button. Trolls feed off continued responses, of course, so don't forget you can ignore a poster. Click the poster's name, then "View Profile". From there, click the "Add to Ignore" option under their profile pic. Quick, easy, saves your eyeballs from inanity.

Back to the topic at hand: it's an adorable pup and regardless of origins needs to be loved. I wouldn't make a habit out of picking up pups at trade shows, but it sounds like you're set on doing the best you can and giving your baby a loving home and proper care. Can't argue with that. Congratulations! We used to have a female brindle Bullmastiff who unfortunately passed from cancer earlier this year. They're wonderful dogs!

Marrow do you know anything about famous historical mastiffs? Ie thornywood terror or my screen name Bantu? I'm sure Farakin would agree that troll wouldn't give much consideration to the rich and vibrant history of mastiffs.Back to the thread. Bullmastiffs can be a loving breed and a loyal family guardian and companion. I hope yours is no exception. But firm discipline early will be key. Mastiffs in general are quite handler sensitive so as mentioned be firm but refrain from being to harsh as this can ruin a dog.

Wow, you chose to name yourself after a group of people. How original. I'm sure FARRAKHAN would be proud.
I'll enjoy this ignore feature. Thanks, Marrow!

This will be my final response to you Bantu. Earlier in this thread you referred to an American Mastiff as "an abomination just a cheap cur version of a real dog" Then you speak about your screen name using terms such as "the rich and vibrant history of the Mastiff", yet it was the name of one of the first generation of Swinford Bandogs.
Relatively famous for it's fighting ability....
Not that I have anything against bandogs, every breed was just that at one point or another.
I am just not sure I really understand the hypocrisy, calling one cross a "cur" yet labeling your self after another. I guess to each their own. ;)
Enjoy yourself Bantu, I am now done with you.

Dpenning and Marrow - I'm using your suggestion to "ignore" this character. I should have used that feature with that first 'oh heck no' post, which was obviously a junk post and cry for attention.

Bantu was a famous working class bandog mastiff, selectively bred for performance. He was better known for for his contribution to the bandog mastiff type than his scraps with other dogs. The American mastiff has nothing to do performance or making a more athletic mastiff but with money. There is quite a difference between breeding for a working purpose (which as a cane corso breeder I hope you know about) and breeding to make a buck by making outrageous claims.

Why would it matter to me if someone I don't know from Adam is done with me?
