Bullmastiff Nationals

Heading out for the bullmastiff nationals in Atlanta, GA today. Anyone else going? If so I'll see you there. BTW keep Ruby in your thoughts. She's showing under amateur owner/handler, she only needs to take this show to get her champion. She's also in the new title holders parade - no points, just a way to honor new titles. She got her THD title (therapy dog).

We got home (Michigan) last night. It was our first national and we had a good time. Our male puppy (6-9 month) didn't place, but the judge asked me to show her his bite again after she'd examined all the puppies individually. I guess she was trying to determine the fourth place finisher. So, I guess my puppy was fifth (out of 13, I think).

Did you see the male showing in best of breed on Saturday pee in the ring? That was one long pee. ;)

Yes I did. I know his owner. Poor Bob was really red-faced. Someone should have walked that boy.
Ruby showed in amateur owner/handler. There were only two entries & the other didn't show. So Ruby took first place by default. She only needs one 3 point major, & of course she didn't get it. But if she would have taken reserve in winners bitch she would have gotten it. We didn't hold out much hope; the top 25 in the country were there. Ruby also showed in the new title holder parade, she earned her THD. Ally showed in the rescue parade.
Thinking of going again next year, in PA. We would have to take all 4 dogs with us. If Bella is still in good shape (she's almost 10), her other mom is considering showing her in veterans sweeps. I refuse; I tried to show her in veterans a couple of years ago & she planted right in the middle of the ring. Bitch.

BTW Laura Lee, congrats. 5th of 13 is not bad. Keep it up; if the judge was having a hard time deciding it means you're doing it right. And puppies are so up & down it's hard to determine the best. Next time he might be first!

Thanks, Ruby. His pa is in the top 25 (TNT's Ground Breaker), so maybe. His problem is that he's not very angular in the hind legs. He's quite vertical, which causes his top line to be a bit high in the rear.

I just checked the catalog. There were eleven puppies entered, not 13. Still not too bad, I guess.
