Hi all- Daisy will be 17weeks tomorrow! Boerboel update:
She weighed in at 60lbs Her walks are very enjoyable now. I believe her pushback was simply trying to gain trust with us and confidence in herself. She makes friends (human) easily on leash but continues to be a bit apprehensive with other dogs. We don’t force her BUT assure her with treats that walking and greeting is safe. Daisy is also very challenging. Boerboel breed may be the most intelligent we’ve ever owned. Our Dobermans and Black Mouth Cur cannot compare. Daisy needs constant training and stimulation. I believe she thrives in learning. Hours of petting, kids wrestling, walking, retrieve tricks etc. She aims to please and she is very sweet. She displayed her “Big Girl Bark” yesterday. Daisy is showing signs of territory and I’m thankful that with introductions, she is welcoming. She is very sensitive:intelligent. She is our first Mastiff. She reacts very well with positive reinforcements, stern voice and hand signals. Even a whisper gets her attention. Now I know what it means to be in the Mastiff family. Challenging but so worth it.
